Help...

Looking for a picture of an authentic '66 Beaumont 327 275 hp air cleaner assembly.  I get mixed messages when I look in the parts manual.  (Is it the same as the '66 Chevelle 327 275hp?)  Any guidance would be appreciated (as I will be popping by OPG in the next day or so.)  Thx muchly!

If nobody replies, I can try to check in the parts books tonight to see if they are the same.

That would be appreciated Carl. (I thought I knew what I was looking for, but I have since begun to question it. Is it similar to the '65 L79 but with one snorkle and no chrome, or is it more similar to the 396 with one snorkle and no chrome?)
Thx again.

PS I found a road test for Morris Minor for your neighbor (I think a mid '50's one, but still might be neat for him to have.)

This got mighty interesting when I was looking it up!

1970 issued Beaumont parts book---

1967 327/275 hp 6423262

_______________________________________________________________________

1972 issued Beaumont parts book---

1967 327 engine 6484410 Supersedes 6423262 and 6421966

_______________________________________________________________________

1973 issued Candian Chevelle parts book---

1967 327/275 hp All Canadian jobs 6484410
1967 327/275 hp All US jobs with 275 hp except closed engine positive ventilation 6484410

________________________________________________________________________

1974 issued American Chevrolet parts book---

1967 327 6484410 except A.I.R. (pollution pump) and except special high perf (that would be L79)

1967 327 6484410 Except closed vent (PCV I assume)

_________________________________________________________________________

So, it would appear that if you buy a US air cleaner for a Chevelle that is not an L79, has no PCV and no A.I.R. (pollution pump) you should have the correct one except for the fact that it does change up from the original 67 part number so it could possibly appear different.

Con-foozed???

I am finding this one a bit confusing. I thought all 66 Beaumonts w/327 had PCV but the part number for a Beaumont 327 air cleaner is the same as a Chevelle without PCV (???)

If I get a chance later I may go dig out the Beaumont assembly manual and see if it lists the air cleaner for the 327.

Thx for all the feedback Carl. As a result of me not being 100% sure of the air cleaner assembly, my concern about the "fit" considering it is not the original card, as well as inventory limitations, I limited my purchase to interior items, new vinyl seat skins, and a couple of exterior mirrors!  The assembly continues to be at the top of the wish list, so your findings are very helpful!

No problem, don't be shy to ask. Others may have need for the same info so it's good to post it here.

I know I love reading tech info for my own vehicle interests even if it's not something I need to know that exact moment. Sooner or later it comes in handy, and if not, some day when I'm babbling incoherently in a senior's home I will have a huge data base to draw from....
