starter pics

Ok finally got the rebuilt starter back in tonite.linkages all done up and cotter pinned.ran the new plug wires, connected up the new heater hoses and water pump lines, figured out where the little steel line connected for the oil gauge. Then got the brakes bled, probably need one more good go around.adjusted the brake pedal asit was hiiting the floor on the downstroke and hanging up.So a few more things of the list. The motor mounts should be here tomorrow, got the door cyl down to the locksmith so he can make new keys.Anyone know if the door and ign ition keys would be the same?Anyways i could use a good pic of the starter wiring.I know i have 2 small wires that can only go on the small post, but i have 2 big wires, one on the harness and the other being the + battery wire and i have 2 big studs on the solenoid both of which have loose nuts and washers. So do they go together to a single post or one on each, which one to where?I was hopeing tohave it up and running for the local car show this week but may just have to tow it over for the day.

For the keys, the ignition is the same as the door, the trunk is another one.

For the starter, all your big terminal wire (generaly 2) go together on the near the engine bloc big stud (the other one have a coper buss bar, to feed the engine starter when needed from the solenoïd), the small one on the small stud at the upper position on the solenoïd.

You need to check if you have the buss bar between the solenoïd and the starter motor, if not it will not rotate.

The 2 big wire terminal go together because one is from battery and the other one is for feeding all the car by the harness, and.. feeding the starter.

Good luck for this week-end.

Fitz.

Thanks fitz
Yes i have the copper bar on mine but it had a second loose nut on it so i was confused if one of the big wires went there. Now i know the 2 go together on the other stud.Hopefully the locksmith will have keys today.Still a few things to do,install the rad and hoses.install the front fenders, grille, hood, hook up the torque tube, finally got the seals figured out i think, hook up the exhaust,carpet,re-install the seats,ok i'm a ways from done yet.
