how many more car shows & cruise's???

confuseconfuseHow many more Car Shows & Cruise in's can the areas stand??? Seems every week in my area there are new events announced every week [Toronto GTA] A new A&W opened in Uxbridge & another in Stouffville [about 15mi apart] both these places are now having cruise "The DUB" There are at least 5 car shows in the area on Sun. + some on Sat. Do you think there are too many of these popping up???  There are only so many cars, & I think they are taking away from the established Cruise's & shows & using the activety just to boost profits at their establishment or car club??? Some "shows" are now charging for the car + each person in show car!!!!! That I don't agree with at "ALL" & the puplic just walk in for "free"  No Cars= NO SHOW  I was involved with putting a show on yrs. ago, & yes there are costs, but we also charged the "walk in crowd" a small amount $3 or $4 but the township got greedy & wanted more & more for the park, insurance went "sky" high & Durham Region got involved with the food vendors for inspections[ even though they had been insp. elsewhere] more greed for lic. fees!!!  So we shut the show down after 30 + yrs but we did notice a decline in cars once the free cruises started up, if we couldn't break even on costs, whats the sense????blehblehbleh

Not here on PEI.cry We're lucky to have 4 or 5 car shows a year, and some are car specific (British cars, Antiques only) ... you guys are spoiled!

I am going to the Coasters 2010 Cross-Canada Show tonight.

Hopefully, pics. to follow. Should be fun!

I can't say that there are too many. Here in the GTA they are pretty much boring that's my beef. I have been driving an hour or so away to see different cars but it rarely happens. The odd night we see something we never saw before which makes it worthwhile

I get tired of showing up not finding a place to park (because I have a job and get home at 6 pm when most people have been at their parking place for an hour already), hear 1950's music blaring from some poor sound system look at cars and talk to people I really don't know then hang around waiting for a few draw prizes.  It seems that the spectator cars are outnumber the classics.

There are a few exception here in Toronto like Queensway and Thornhill but the only diference there is sheer size.

The best part really about these cruises is leaving because that's when I get to drive the car, going to a cruise in Toronto is not like driving rather more like idling and stopping every 20 feet.

That's why I like doing driving events like our Ponch BBQ at ARCADIANS place, lots more fun and people there I know and like !biggrin

Ray, have you gone to the Uxbridge cruise on Thurs. Night. It's on Reach St. at the Living Water Community Church. Every time I go there there's allways a few cars I've never seen before, they treat you well there & make you feel welcome, average around 200+ cars a night!!! The Manchester [Haugan's] wed. cruise is just about "dead" as the owners have driven most of the cruiser's away with their "bad " attitude & "stupid" rules & regulations!!!

My car "is not good enough" for Haugens.

Map quest says 35 miles and 55 minutes to Reach St. in Uxbridge, pretty easy to get to though HWY 404 then right on Bloomington Side road. I'd have to add 30 minutes leaving from my place in downtown Toronto during rush hour. If I left at 6:30 I might get there by 8:00 pm, will people still be there?

You'd get there just at the finish of the door prizes & see the cars leave, any chance of getting out a hour earlier????

OH!!! you must have heard about the guy they asked to leave, because they thought HIS car wasn't "up to Snuff" or was that you??? Or how about the people that went to use the washrooms & were kicked out because they didn't buy anything at the booth or restaurant, or the guys handing out flyers for a Sunday car show & were kicked out?? OR OR Or, The list is a LONG one

There's a big combination GM/Chrysler show tomorrow at the largest local Chevy dealership (who also just acquired a Chysler dealership, hence the dual make show) in St. John's. I will try to get some pics.

No comment, other than to say I won't go there.

I could leave early to get to Uxbridge no problem there, I'll make a point to do it in August as I'm checking out to cottage for a couple of weeks.

Thers about 3 good shows this saturday....I can't decide which to go to...

Since the A&W started their "cruise the Dub", they are trying to have them at several here as well. I haven't gone to any, because they all have them on wednesday nites????? You'd think they'd try and divide them up a bit, they'd probably get more cars..

We have the A&W cruise in every Thursday night, not much parking so only about 5 - 10 cars will show up, they do the tray on the window like in the old days. Big show here this weekend, Northwest Duece Days, up to 6 or 700 hundred cars, anything up to 51. Edelbrocks were there last time signing autographs and giving away crap. 2 hour line up for that. 400 car cruise today up Island and back to Victoria. May go look on sunday if feeling ok. 5 more show's here before end of season.

Big event happening in Lindsay this weekend, Classics on Kent. I've been for about 5 years now, always a good show. Can't say the same about the Dub in Lindsay.

That's exactly what I mean, TOO MANY CRUISE"S they are all trying to have one, mostly on the same night or the same weekend & cut down on the #'s of cars going to each one!!!  At least the A&W in Uxbridge was smart enough not to have theirs on Thurs. night, guess somebody told them about the one on Reach St. & how many yrs. its been there, or they'd likely would have doubled up on that one too???

There are a bunch of shows in my area this weekend (including another one at Steve Plunketts estate) however I just cant be bothered to waste a whole day parked at a show. I may hit one of them as a spectator. I agree with Ray, doing a CP meet or run would be more fun. We have something in the works for us SW guys! ;)

haugen left a bad taste in my mouth last year. but on another point did the east coast nationals in moncton (1500 cars) the previous weekend and just got back last night from the syracuse nationals (over 7000 cars). car over load over 2 weekends. i find i go to the local cruises to hang with old friends and chew the fat not really looking at the cars because i've seen them all before, but going to the nationals i see cars that i've never seen plus get ideas for future projects.
