1951 Pontiac Fleetleader Deluxe (Canadian) - factory paint code 162

Does anyone know what the shade of gray is for Aldershot Grey Metallic which is the original paint code 162 on my 51.  I believe my car has had a paint over with another shade of gray and I would like to restore it back to the original colour.  Neither GM or Dupont in Canada could help me with the paint chips for this paint code.  Apparently it was a specialty colour according to Dupont and there was no records kept with the formula.

ive seen no canadian paint chips prior to 1955

Dulux Paint code for aldershot grey (canadian only colour) is DUM-119

there was also Aspen Grey code 164 (i think light grey)

would you like to add your car to our registry?

Is there any original paint on the car. If the fuel door was original and could be buffed to look like new you could get it scanned and get paint to match. I know that's a longshot...

I have confirmed with GM that the paint code was 162 and with Dupont DUM-119.  I have had lengthy conversations with both and they have come up with nothing.  I will take the car to an auto paint shop and they will scan it the underpaint and tell me if it is the original paint.  I can at least get a current day colour match to repaint.

you can do a search under auto color library.it is a company from the u.s and they have paint codes and books back to the 20's.they can also mix paint in a variety of types.they had no problems figuring out my 54 pathfinder and were quick and friendly sending me the info.
