Hey fellas! Just wanted to let you all know at once, that if it seems I've fallen off the face of the earth in the next little while, it's because I'm trying to get high speed out in the sticks where I live. I was sure my previous provider had cut off my connection this past Sunday as it wouldn't let me dial up! I was also SURE I was paid up until Aug 1. For the heck of it, I dialed up today and actually got through so thought I'd send this message. They're SUPPOSED to call me either this week or SOMETIME next week about installing the high speed but NO specific date!! What a pain in the.....groin!!! Guess that's what you can expect when you get to pay $540.00 annually for a service and oh yeah, this fall, prices are even going to be going up I've been informed! YEEHAW! Thanks fellas.
You're just TOO KIND Carl! LOL! Oh, and by the way, we DO have sewage and running water out here too! LUXURY MAN! Hummingbird sized mosquitoes too! Some of the little fellas even have flashlights! Oh, yeah, guess they're fireflies eh? Must be the HICK(S) coming out in me! He says tongue in cheek!
Hey Randy, I live on what's now known as Line #39 of Ellice Township. If you go out Hwy #19; well Hwy #119 since emergency numbers were installed; go north toward Milverton? As soon as your out of St. Ratford, it's the FIRST road on the left. If you go to the airport road that's next on the right you've gone too far! Anyways, turn to the left on the first sideroad out of town and that's Line #39. I live past the first mile and a quarter on the left-hand side. That should give you a pretty good idea where I'm at Randy. Another way of looking at it is I'm one road north of Stock Auctions. That will give you an even better idea I'm sure.
We had only dial up available until both Rogers and Bell came out with what Bell calls a Turbo Stick ( Rogers uses a different name ). Just plug it into a USB port, install the program and it works thru the cell phone system ( if you can get cell phone service where you are then this should work ). Its not the really fast high speed but it sure beats dial up. We have the basic usage pkg for about $44 per month. Might be worth a look see. Oh yah, if you have a lap top then just plug the stick in and it goes anywhere you go that there is cell phone service from your supplier. We recently travelled from Calgary back to Ont and it work all across the prairies but quit at Kenora and didn't come back on line until North Bay. So there are dead spots.
While we're on this topic. One of my pet peaves: the use of terms such as "high speed " - completely worthless term. Other useless words big and tall, fat and small ( relative to what ) Thanks for letting me vent.
