Spied a '69 Custom Convertible

I just got back from vacation and stopped in to see my buddy Joe and look what he had in the shop. Just in from BC, $14,000 to his shop in Toronto, got it for a friend. Sorry I only had my blackberry camera this morning. Hope the data plate is good enough Fred.

I've said it before but will say it again, the survival rate on Custom Convertibles is incredible! This one is real nice, nothing like a BC car to an Ontario boy, just awesome!

part of my corespondance

Hi Fred:
The model # is 73567.  Original color code is 40 735.
Interior is stock black, and options are as listed, with power steering, power brakes, power roof.
The car was involved in minor collision, was parked in front of home, when passing car hit front drivers side quarter, ahead of door. Repairs were done, so the decision to paint entire car was made.  I have pictures of damage and all repair bills.
Car was painted in Nov 2002.
Engine rebuilt in Nov 2002, top and bottom end.
Powerglide transmission rebuilt at that time also.
Can send pics of engine area.
I am handling the sale of this vehicle for my girlfriend, who at this time, is not able to store, and sell it, due to moving.  She purchased the car from her Aunt, who bought it brand new in April of 1969.  My girlfriend has owned it since July 2001.
The car does have some rust, in the upper trunk area, drivers side, and also in wheel well of rear passenger side.  I have more photos I can send you which would show you these areas.
The top is in beautiful shape, no holes, and functions well.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

Actually the car was sold from John Wright Motor Sales Ltd, in Thamesford, Ontario on April 3, 1969.
I have the Pontiac New Vehicle Warranty and Owner Protection Plan Policy as well,  and that is dated April 7th, 1969.  It is signed by John Wright himself!
On the sales invoice they list the motor # as K0319AN
The car was in Ontario for approx. 10yrs, as my girlfriend remembers she was 9 when her Aunt purchased it. Then the car travelled to Vancouver Island and then over to Alberta, where my friend bought it from her Aunt. My friend brought it to BC, and it was inspected and registered in BC in July 2001.

John Wright's was located about 15 minutes from where I live. It seems all they sold were trucks and 6 cyl cars! That's a cool Beaumont!

of the 4 six cylinder 69 rags weve seen (10% of 40) this yellow is the only one to still have the original drivetrain.

Fred, that is the old Wrights lot. There used to be a photo hanging in the showroom of John Wright doing the ground breaking ceremony for that building. It is now an independent repair shop.

I found out that the new owner is actively looking for a late model corvette drivetrain. He is an auto insurance broker so he will find what he wants. At first I thought what a shame but in reality who wants to drive a car that can't get out of its own way?

Excuse me while I drool....  Ok - done now. biggrin

I understand the new owner wanting to have more power, but it would be nice to see a few examples of a rare car such as this still surviving with their original drivetrains.

I never thought the Chevy six was that much of a dog, but I've never owned one in an A-body either.  I did have a '72 Nova with a six and PG in my university days and thought it worked ok - it was pretty cool to me when it would do its 1-2 shift at WOT around 60 mph!

Oh well... it's his money and his car.  I wish him the best with it.  It will be a cool car regardless of the drivetrain!  I just hope he doesn't change it into yet another Chevelle clone!

Nice clean and original... Just the way I would leave it. I wouldn't have batted an eye for that purchase price.
