Info on long gone dealership

My 1957 Pontiac was originally sold in Medicine Hat, Alberta by a dealer named AMOS. The dealer script is still on my cars trunk lid. Does anyone out there have any information at all about this dealership. Are they still in business? Were they a Pontiac/Buick dealer? Any information would be greatly appreciated. George.

I'll do some digging, I have lots of relatives in that area.  I looked at your name on your profile, we spoke about 18 years ago when I first bought my 57 Chev and you had parts listed in the back of the Old Car Trader.

I talked to one old timer, he said Beny's has always been Medicine Hat's Chev/Olds dealership, and that there was an Amos Motors in Medicine Hat, but doesn't specifically remember if it was Pontiac/Buick.  He gave me the name of another old timer who worked at Beny's in the early 50's, and I'll see if I can contact him tonight.  Both of these gents are good friends of the family that live in SW Saskatchewan.

Wow that is wild. You just totally caught me off guard. Guru you have one incredible memory. You must have lived in the Toronto area at the time. Do you remember what you bought off me at the time. My Classic Chev days are over. One 55, two 56 chevs and a 57 that i owned for just over 19 years. I sold my 57 Belair four door hardtop three years ago on the internet to a guy in Victoria B.C. My 57 Pontiac i have had for 14 years. Guru please reply when you have the chance and tell me some more specifics about how our paths crossed 18 years ago. Obviously at the time i had my 57 Chev. Do you remember seeing my car at the time. This is real cool how old car guys paths cross over the many years. George.

I'm in Calgary, and I had a 57 210 2 dr post from 1991 to 2001.  Atlanta built, Dusk Pearl & Ivory.  While I didn't buy anything from you, we spoke on thephone and if I recall, I was inquiring about a 57 150 horn cap.  You were a paramedic or something like that and had odd work hours.   I have almost a photographic memory, too bad I never applied it in schoo.l

Amos Motors was started up by Red Amos, sounds like in the early 50's when Red Amos left Beny's, and they were splitting the Chev/Olds and Pontiac/Buick dealerships.  Beny's continued on as Chev/Olds, and Amos Motors took the Pontiac/Buick lines.  Beny's was on S. Railway Street, and Amos Motors was across the tracks on N. Railway Street.   My source didn't know when Amos Motors closed up shop.

Thank you very much 70 2+2 all of your fabulous information is so greatly appreciated. I was never a paramedic but yes my hours were odd and on call. That job of 29 years running that service department for most of those years is now gone. I am one of the many guys in their 50s that has been displaced by that antiseptic term "Restructuring". George.

Can't say that the emblem looks familiar.   I bet if I took a long walk through "Flatla Auto Wrecking" near Brooks AB I'd spot one or two.

Thanks for posting the dealer emblem.
And WOW it appears to be in great shape. There is usually a direct correlation between the condition of the dealer emblem and the remainder of the car.

You hit it right on the proverbial nail Ted. The script was in real good shape and so was the car. I lost patience for rusty and wrecky kind of cars a very long time ago. I figure that the less time i spend on rust, the more time i can spend on fun stuff. Like mechanicals, assembly and detail items. I re chromed the script when i did all the other shinny stuff. Cheers brother. George.
