Anyone going to Haugen Chicken in Port Parry August 25th

Any Canadian Poncho members going to be at Haugens Chicken in Port Parry, Wednesday,  August 25th?   For those interested in a pretty good show its worth the drive.  Only been once bad in 2007 but was blown away by the number of cars at the event.  Probably over 300 cars.

Hope to see some of you when I'm there.

I live 20 min. from there & wouldn't go if you PAID me. Steve[owners son] is a ignorant A Hole who treats the participants with such dis regard that most of the car people won't go there on the regular Wed. nite cruise's. This BIG ONE that is held in Aug. used to bring in over 1500 cars when previous owners ran it. They were car people, these guys just want to count their money as soon as 8PM arrives & practically kick you out as soon as it's over. It's taken about 8 yrs for them to just about "KILL" one of the best cruise's around, with their rules & regulations of where you can park, not using the washrooms unless you buy your dinner there, no handing out of "flyers" even if your show doesn't conflick with their wed. nite. They even told a guy with a "RAT ROD" to leave as his car looked terrible!!! Last yr. cars came from all over Ont. & some arrived early [b-4 11am opening] Steve told them to leave & come back aftr. 11 & they couldn't park on his lot & wait. From what I "heard" they told him after driving from Hamilton & some from Kitchener, He could "stick" his BIG ONE where the sun don't shine & they would never come again!! This was over heard by a friend of mine that was caught up in the same mess, brought his car early to be up front in lot & they sent him packing as well!!! I guess they have the right to pick & choose what class of car comes in & have all sorts of "stupid" rules, it's their cruise, but you would think that when they only have about 20 cars show up on a Wed. night, that used to be 500, that the "25" watt. light bulb would come on & say" somethings wrong here" when the Tues. Port Perry cruise does over 100 & Uxbridge is well over 200 on Thurs. night!!! Their door prizes are another thing, 1 ltr. bottle of oil & a PIE That's It. Guees by doing the oil thing they can spread a case of 12 over the whole season??? I may sound "bitter" but I've had it with them & most of the people you meet at other cruise feel the same & won't go back either!!!!

Stopped in there last week on road home from Orillia.  Guy looks like he haunts houses.

Alittle more info on this, Iwas talking to a memeber of the Port Perry Cruisers that do the Tues. night show & appartently Haugan's called them up because they used to help out there when original owners did the cruise. Haugan's wanted them to come back & run it, to get the car count back up. Port guys said they might if there were some changes, 1st. Steve leaves or has nothing to do with it, & 2nd. stop the stupid rules & kicking people out on a "whim" They said "no way" that the way it is, Port guys said "SEE YA" but not that politely!!!

I went there in 2003, they had 1350 cars that year. I even got an aerial photograph taken from the hot air balloon they had then. I was back once or twice since then but not lately. I heard the stories from different people that didn't like it anymore. I go to cruises for the enjoyment of it, what's the point of going if it's not enjoyable?

So now after reading the posts I need to know if this is worth going to or not!!!
I'm travelling over 3000 miles to do car shows and hopefully meet some of you guys.

If Haugen's has been written off and not worth going there I'd kinda like to know.   I'd rather spend some time with 68SD and SD396 if that's the case.

I've only been the place once back in 2007 and it was vbery much like the way it was descibed by someone else from 2003.

I''ll be checking back before August 25th so any replies either here or Personal Messages would be appreciated.

Dave
I can't comment on this cruise night but there are lots of good cruise nights through the week that you can get to fairly quickly.
Wednesday night in Orangeville always gets a good showing of cars. It's about an hour and twenty minutes for me. I haven't been this year so I will need to make the trip once. I was speaking with "Dad" today, he is on holidays this week. I could probably talk him into going over too.
Maybe some other people can suggest some other locations that are more inviting. When are you arriving and what area are you staying?
