What's it worth?

What's a 97 youkon extended 4x4 with 130,000 miles worth? It's from New Mexico so zero rust. No accidents or anything? He's asking 3000$ certified. Too much? confuse

Bluebook says around $4K so not the bargain of the century - but if you want it, have a mechanic check it out, eh? (I did that when I bought my crew cab dually to tow the race car and it saved me a BUNCH of money)

I would say that's likely at least $1,000 shy of market value for a rust free southern truck. Some may disagree with me but knowing you have likely 5-8 years here driving it before it shows rust has to make it worth considerably more than the asking price. Most Canadian models are likely well into the rust cycle at that age and worth a few grand less.

My two cents!

If that was the type of vehicle I needed I'd grab it at that price.

Thank's for the input boys, I'll grab it if at all possible. I need a new driver.

I think people normally underestimate the extra value that comes in a desert vehicle. Once you've worked on salt belt vehicles, it's easy to understand why the "dry" vehicles are worth so much more. Hard weatherstrips and crunchy vinyl parts (sun baked) are so much easier to fix than rusty brake pipes, floors etc etc etc.

Could it be a "Mexican-made" Yukon?

It is worth that money. Just ask the owner if you can do an oil change on it yourself before buying. When you remove the oil plug as the oil starts to drain see if there is any sign of antifreeze or water draining first before the oil starts draining. The vortec engines are notorious for intake gasket leaks. Many a vortec engine has spun rod bearings because of this.  I personally think the best trucks GM made are the 96-98 years.
