It would be nice to get the documents because the 38 cars were being made on the 12th as there is 2 in the registry from that day. At least one of those cars carries the GM documentation.

However, to confuse the issue, there is a documented SD 38 car already on the 6th??? That is before your 36 car on the 9th......

Could the one for the 6th be documented wrong? Or maybe your Malibu is not the real thing? Or maybe Malibu and Beaumont didn't change the same day?

One key is that D55 appears on the trim tag. No Sports Option cars have D55 on the trim tag since D55 was not an option (i.e. it was standard on any car that qualified).

A little secret, I have found the last week of November 1966 to be the changeover.
After that point, A51 and D55 would indicate a Malibu (135/136 series) or a Beaumont Custom (735/736 series) with bucket seats & console.  At that point forward a car with A51 WITHOUT D55 on the trim tag would mean bucket seat without a console. Yes, if it was a Powerglide car then it would have buckets with a column shift.

Canadianponcho member "67 beaumont" (Glenn) has a '67 Beaumont that is right at the switchover point.

Wow, that beats your earliest 738 registry Beaumont by 15 days...

Interesting gap before the L34 stamp.

And no D55 console stamped.

A39 isn't often seen on cowl tags, is it?

Funny that it took priority. We know this car will have a console, right? I'm so used to seeing A51D55 on the "38" cowl tags it almost looks funny with the D55 absent!

Wait, I'm wrong. It can be a bucket seat 4 speed 138 car without console.

My Chevelle was built Dec 15, 1966. The sheet I got from GM back in the 1980s listed 50 cars. Not one had a 396 or was a 138-series. There were quite a few Malibus with both A51 & D55, including one that was really interesting:

13617, RR Bolero Red, 27 black vinyl roof, 763 black buckets. Options: A01 tinted glass, A31 power windows, A39 deluxe seatbelts, A51 bucket seats (not Sports Option), C08 vinyl top, C50 rear defogger, D55 console, F40 h.d. suspension, G80 Positraction, J50 power brakes, J52 disk brakes (with Rally Wheels), K02 modulating 5-blade fan, K05 block heater, K76 61 amp alternator, L30 327 275-horse, M01 h.d. clutch (11!), M20 Saginaw 2.54:1 low 4-speed, N10 dual exhausts, N34 Sport Styled simulated wood steering wheel, N40 power steering, P57 standard puny 7.35-14 blackwall rayon tire (therefore skinny 14x5 Rally Wheels), T60 h.d. battery, U16 tach, U63 AM radio, U80 auxilliary rear speaker (as good as we got in Canada), V01 h.d. rad (with shroud), V31 front bumper guards, V32 rear bumper guards. Since the car is an L30 / M20 combo it got the 3.07 12-bolt rear rather than the 3.08 10-bolt. Based on the presence of the standard tires it sounds like the car may have been destined for a wheel & tire upgrade on day 2.

Also on the list is a Granada Gold Malibu Sport Coupe with a black vinyl top, black buckets & a Powerglide with a column shift / no console (283 car). Perhaps the dealer forgot to order the console since you didn't need to worry about that detail with the recently discontinued Sports Option.
