I put a Crane module in my stock distributor and it works great. The Crane kit comes with a built in rev limiter for some added protection. It is very easy to install too. I wanted to keep under the hood of my car as stock appearing as possible.
There may still be a complete Olds HEI unit here...what motor are you working with?. Unless you're just wanting the top end components, you'll need the whole assy specific to an Olds, Pontiac or Buick engine..

I am dealin with a 70 pont 400. This one goes the other way also. I learnt that one the hard way lol. I think B O P are all the same set up. I would be after a whole complete unit for it

Below is the information for the listed Crane kit.
Crane XR-i Points-To-Electronic Ignition Conversion Kits Distributor Conversion - XR-i - 12 V - Kit. Fits many Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs, and more ranging from 1955 to 2003.
If you want one ....I have one .....MSD distributer, cap and wires. Couldn't use it to get my Collector plates. Shoot me a pm if your intested
Now thats interesting, they wouldn't let you get collector plates because of aftermarket distributor???? Yet here in Ont. you can get away with historic plates on an "all out" Hot Rod" ??? BTW I've got the Crane Kit in my 64 Catalina, works great & rev. limiter works well. Have "heard" a few guys have had failures with the Pertronix units, I still keep a set of Points & cond. in the G/box.

I have heard the same thing with the Pertronix kit. I don't know of anyone using the Mallory Uni-lite conversion but Mallory has a great track record with ignition systems. Maybe I'll try one on the next car.
I used a Mallory Uni-lite back in the 70's (ya its been around that long) worked great and trouble free. Was one of the first on the block to use this system back then. Was a real simple install.

They do have a modified Collector, but my car is not old enough. If you get in an accident and they find something that's not period correct......your insurance is null and void.
Sounds like you have a varitiy of plates out there, Ont. has the regular plate $ 76 per yr. & historic plate @$18 p/yr. so you can see why the rodders want to put the cheaper plate on their cars BUT they are hurting the guys & girls that qualify for the historic plates, pretty soon the Prov. will eliniate them for the abuse & we will all LOSE!!!!

Strangest thing I have ever heard My Ont. collector plates were issued, because car was 44 years old They didn't care if it had a motor and a insurance company cannot cancel insurance, if someting is not "period correct"
They had "aftermarket" in 1965 1966 1967 1968 1969 1970 etc. No on cancelled insurance then??
Lots of restrictions go with our plates as well. We have to send in pictures and have another car with full insurance. They also want you to report offenders and those plates will be pulled. I don't think they'll get rid of our system out here. Those people might a year or two, but it will get back to ICBC and then try for Collectors again. No pictures...Please bring your car in to inspect it.
