Hey guy's I have been thinking of upgrading my MC (under the floor ) to a firewall mounted unit, What would you suggest for such a job, Car is 1950 Fleetleader special with flathead six, Also suggestions for pedals to bring it up
I was looking at doing the same upgade of adding the MC to the firewall, but after taking some time to see what it needed to keep it under the floor, I went that route. The only issue is you can't add a booster easily, but the manual brakes are pretty good anyway. Plus itt keeps the firewall a lot cleaner looking.
I made up a new mount for the M/C and the pivots for the brake/clutch pedals. The M/C is from Napa - any unit for drum/drum setup would work. The only problem fitting it was the M/C had a tang on the casting at the bottom that had to be ground off. I positioned it as close to the original location under the floor - only had to make the opening a bit larger to remove cap.
thanks for the pics Steve, the reason I want to move it is I now have fitted carpets nd its insulated, with aluminized bubble wrap type material and I would have to hate pulling it back every time to check fluid level by the way what year and model is your car, mine is a canadian fleetleader special
