not Pontiac , need hot rod opinions....

most of you know I have  a 33 chevy 3 window hotrod,  I had a casually interested party last year,,,,well last week he made a firm offer.

He doesn't want my 454 and I'm keeping the Rader wheels. The offer is about what I would have in parts and not much towards time.

Now,  If I where to sell it , I'm already looking at what I'd replace it with.   My car is a hotrod , the body is not done , no real interior, but all mechanical is 100%.  I've driven the car for the last 4 years with no  trouble other than me splittin the spiders in the 9" ford.

IF  I where to build another car, I'd do some things different , traditional front suspension ( mine is Mustang II )  and maybe a Nailhead I've been saving.  The money from the sale of mine MIGHT get me to the same driving condition , and maybe body work and interior,,no paint, and LOTS of labour.

here is the car I'm looking at as a replacement...

I like the 36 and given the opportunity to get a similar car to what you have and make some improvements is great.
The 36 is the second year for all steel so it is a far better car to build. I think it would be a good move.
I like a traditional straight axle hot rod too.

I love the look of the '36 Chev for sure. But I sort of have my heart set on this one with a 322 nailhead....

You asked for opinions, so here is mine.

WIth ONLY the exception of the 1940 Ford Deluxe coupe, which IMHO has beautiful body lines everywhere, I do NOT like fat fendered cars. 1934 is the dividing line. 1935+ cars, any make, are bulbous (even if you leave the fat fenders off, since the body is still bulbous), not lithe and mean like a Hot Rod of the 30's should be.

So if you were to sell your 33 (I wouldn't, unless you were just tired of it and wanted something different, after all, you can take the time to do the finish body work and have it painted, take the time to make the door panels and cover them, maybe even fabricatre them from sheet aluminum for more 'true hot rod' look, take the time to finish the rest of the interior, add A/C so you can drive even the one day a year (ha!) you have blistering heat, and finiish off your 33 into a real gem ...)

If you insist on selling your 33, I'd suggest a 28-32 tudor, something you can chop the top (easy to do since the pillars are all vertical, eh!) for mean lines yet still position a seat so you can drive it.

Maybe even a fordor, the suicide rear doors would be cool. Any make, Fords will be easier to find but a Chevy or Pontiac or Packard or ...

Should not be hard to find a project car lke that, too.

Here is a link to a work in progress '36 Pontiac.......It looks pretty cool. I think the '36 Chev would be a neat ride when done....as always it boils down to your time and effort into a project of this size.

thanks for all the compliments and encouragement !!!

I should explain, the 36 is sold ...to me ! I couldn't help myself. I'm going to sit on the 36 for awhile and see where my mind takes it.

AS for my coupe...It's staying with me, it just has 'the look'

I know it's not the same car or anything but I can't help but think of American Graffiti when I see this picture.

I like em both too but that 36 will be a great car, love the wheel choice too. Are those old halibrands on the front there ?
