Decoding 64 Parisienne VIN

Just joined Canadian Poncho and looking forward to some help on getting this 64 Parisienne Custom Sport on the road. The car is all there however engine and tranny were pulled, engine dissassembled and now I have the fun putting it back togethersmile

I was told it had a 283 2 barrel but the car came with two engines, one is in rough shape, totally apart, rusted and missing pieces (the 2 barrel) and the other appears to be ok, crank and piston turns, heads good shape, four barrel intake.

Both are orange chevy engines, from what I have read Canadian Made Pontiacs used
chevy engines is this true? Reason I ask is because I am also working on a 68 GP US made and it had a 400 blue engine(another topic)

My question is how can I find out by the VIN whcih engine was the original and what where the options, attached is a pic.

Also does anyone have a link to where I can get the engine ID and codes?

Thanks for taking them time to read this and appreciate any help.

There are plenty of experts to decode your data tag but here is what I know.

7447 - Parisienne Custom Sport 2 dr. Hardtop

Trim 272 = Red interior

Paint A = Tiuxedo Black

All Canadian B Body Pontiacs recieved Chevrolet engines originally green in colour then starting in 1958 they were orange.

You may send away to GM Vintage Vehicle Sercices to obtained detailed build data on your car.

Welcome wink

If you are good, and save your money,  you might be able to get a 66, when you grow up .  rofl.gif
