1970 Parisienne Convertible Parts

Hi guys...

I've had my Convertible for almost 10 years now and the time has come to bring her back to her beautiful best.

Does anyone know where I can find a few parts to help?

- Front Valance (Mine's there, but a bit dented)
- Centre Bumper section with good chrome
- Stainless rocker moldings?

And does anyone have a line on some rear fender skirts?

I would love to find some fender skirts....

Yeah I'll throw a few  pics up in a while!

She started off really nice... Then she was abandoned in the wilds of East Van for awhile after circumstances changed. (don't ask)

But now she's safe and on the mend as I get things in place from out of town.

There were homeless people sleeping in it!  They cut the top open.  I found the smashed up remains of dozens of crackpipes and some (thankfully unused) condoms in the car when I reclaimed her.  A bit of interior TLC is needed.

She'll need more work now than she needed when I dropped her off, but the motor and tranny are all good and she ran perfectly after 3 years of sitting in the gutter!

My buddies sent some pics of burnout tracks to show she's still got some fight in 'er!

Welcome Twyford!
It sounds like your car has a very interesting story ... if it could only talk!
You say it was "abandoned", are you the owner on paper?
Someone should be able to help you with your shopping list on this site.

Thanks, Carl!

Fender skirt king has some good parts... but the valances in those classifieds seem to be for Mopars unless I am missing something!

I'll happily keep on looking...

I have everything you're looking for, it's all in the rafters of my garage.

- stainless rocker moldings are from a 68 Parisienne, but I'm sure they'd be the same.
- center bumper section with decent chrome.
- I've got a couple NOS front valances, and I'm sure I have a decent used one.
- fender skirts.

I won't be able to fish them down for photo's until Sept 20 however.

Hi there,

Here's a few pics of the car as I found it recently.

I landed a job out of the country and dropped it off to a body shop with high hopes of getting a bit of work done.  They went out of business while I was away and I won't go into that.

The early pic was what it looked like when I dropped it off (I had the stock hobcaps on steelies that were painted red for interest)

You can see she got pretty degraded during her sabattical in East Van.  You can see dimebags and smashed crackpipes in the carpet.  The seats are pretty weathered and ripped now.  Carpet's toast.  Top's ragged.  Weatherstripping is crusted out.  The engine roars and the tranny is in fine shape.  Sweet.

I cleaned up the interior with some gargening secaturs for the blackberry bush, heavy gloves and a flashlight in case of hypodermic needles,  soap and water and some scrubbers and towels.  She's looking better now than in the pics.

I'll pore over some other pics and get my buddies who are looking after the car to look it over and see where things stand with some of those parts.... The grille surround and the stainless trim.

I just remebered I am also looking for some new side spear trims... The car SHOULD be #53 Coronado Gold with a black top and interior.  It's currently a battered suede green.

The side spears on it now are filled with white vinyl and the one off the driver's fender is now lost...   The trim on the car now is the stick-on type and therefore not stock.

I wonder what colour side trim would go well on a gold car with black top & interior?  I am guessing trim with a black infill is what I am after.

Thanks for looking around seventy2plus2!

So glad I joined the forums after lurking forever.

I've got leftover parts too from my 1970 Bonneville convertible parts car if you need some like an electric front bench seat, rear seat, door panels..dark green, front bumper, grilles header panel... misc little parts.

Is it Coronado Gold?  I know my 70 hardtop is Baja Gold, but I don't have the color code handy.

I spotted the power windows, rear speaker and rear defogger in the photo's, cool.  Being a late built car it will have a throttle cable instead of linkage, and the "Astro Vents" will have a black nozzle with just chrome around the tip of the nozzle instead of a chrome nozzle.  Both of these things were mid year changes.

Yeah the colour seems pretty rare. Never seen an Impala or other b-body car with it. I like it. It's quite a 'lively' gold. I can see it lingering behind the driver's side headlights and also when I've had the back seat and some interior panels out and it's like what I've seen on some old Firebirds and LeMans. Other gold paint codes are more brown or beige looking to me.

Coronado Gold would be a pretty far out color with a bit more flake in it maybe. But not too much.

Are the "Astro Vents" what they are calling dashboard vents these days? Those kooky GM designers must be all hepped-up on goofballs.

Here's a couple pics with my buddies hauling the car out of there to a safer location.

... And the tire mark from the burnout they did when they got it off the trailer!

She's a "one tire fryer"

yup, the dashboard vents were called "Astro Ventalation".  They replaced the vent windows in 1968.

55 is Baja Gold

53 is Nugget Gold on a Chevy in Canada

i wonder if they used the name nugget gold on the pontiacs as well?

in 69 and 70 Canadian Pontiacs used the US Pontiac chart

the Canadian chart used basic terms for the colour as they were for all lines but definitly shows a name for code 53 Nugget Gold (they couldnt use Camaro Gold in Canada on a impala!)

so is it Nugget Gold in Canada?

Yeah Nugget Gold seems like it's the one on the Canadian colour cards.

Depending on how things are scanned and monitors are all set up it shows so differently!

That looks a lot like the colour behind the panels and seats.  You can see it in my pics on that driver's headlight bucket.

POW! It's a pretty hot gold.
