My 68 2+2 Convertible

Hi Everyone:
I own a '68 Parisienne 2+2 convertible. It's Matador red with Parchment White interior.
Powered by 275HP 327 with Powerglide and 12bolt diff. I don't know much history
about the car before I purchased it in '94. I do know it was an Alberta car for the two
previous owners. When I got the car, it was in primer, the top was trashed, and it had
an oil burning 350 but it was complete and I drove it away for $500. In '95 after new
paint, top, and most interior it was our Wedding car. Before kids we used to take the
car on vacation. That was cool. Highway to the Sun in Montana with a convertible is
an awesome drive. I built it to drive not to just look at. I don't drive it as often now but I
still like to put the top down and go for a burn. Here's some pictures.
PS: Does anyone know of any louvers for the front fenders and the 2+2 trunk emblem.
I've been searching swap meets since I got the car.
Thanks JC

if you've got the part # for the trunk emblem I'll look to see if I can help you.  I suspect it's the same as the 1967 emblem.

Welcome JC - love the 68 ragtop stuff!

As you know I parted that 2+2 last christmas and I'm kicking myself - dough!

Send me a PM and let's stay in touch - I have another 68 Poncho ragtop for parts, plus 12 or so 68 Impalas, so I'm sure we'll find something to discuss.

Very nice car John. What is the story on your engine swap? From oil-burning 350 to 327, is it a date correct 327?

Yes Darryl there is a story behind the engine swap. I traded my buddy an old beer
fridge for the 327 short block. It was out of his old '68 GMC 2ton. He yanked it because
it used oil. Turns out it had a steel crank and forged pistons - bonus. I freshened it
up with new rings, bearings and a fairly lumpy cam. I aquired a set of 461 double
camel hump heads and '68 cast 4barrel manifold to finish it off. So to answer your
question it is '68 just not from a Pontiac. I do have another 327 block in my garage
from a '68 Laurentian 4door (my parts car). I was thinking maybe someday I would
swap blocks and make it all Pontiac but it still wouldn't be numbers matching so why
when it runs good the way it is.
P.S. This is an awesome web site! Sure glad I decided to join.

Welcome John and good to hear your story. There is something special about those convertibles isn't there.

Hi John. I have lots of sets of louvers for 68 and many 2+ 2 emblems. If you still need them, let me know. Welcome.
