A couple weeks ago I posted about a 283 block I bought that would be bored .125 over and along with a 327 crank will yield 327 cubic inches and used in a Calif. 63 SS I purchased. This is the rest of that story.
Original plate that was in the car. The rear plate had a 1985 sticker as current on it.
Matching 4 barrel orignal intake. It is marked as 64 4 spd but I haven't checked it yet. Part # is 3844457 Date code F2 64
Original heads I believe to be 283, probably 1.72 intake valves. They are part #3795896. These will not be used, I hope to locate some original heads with 1.94 intake valves.
These are original exhaust manifolds but not the ones from this block. These will be used in the build.
Original matching Muncie M-20, part # 3851325 and will be used.
All original linkage, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, Z-bar, etc. etc. Included in the build.
Gotta have the correct bell housing at 7:00 position.
Last but not least, the car with no rust and all original SS equipment and trim. 194 ci 6 and aluminum powerglide with floor shift will not be used. thanks for taking the time to read about my project. Norm
I'm looking at that Muncie and wondering. Is that the speedo gear just in front of the shifter? If so, do they acutally run the cable through the shift linkage in 64? In 65 the gear is on the passenger side.
I am not certain but I thought there was only a 2 barrel 283 in 64 Novas, or do you mean you are going to do it as a 327 and that would be the original intake for one of them?
Do you have the special little alternator bracket that bolts to the left manifold? If not, let me know. I may have an extra. I know I used to...

I hoped I would get your attention, I hadn't noticed the speedo connector but it certainly looks like it goes through the linkage. You are correct on the two barrel only in 64. Wayne (founder of NNN) had the 64 SS donor car and it was his idea to restore it as a 4 barrel car. My guess is this intake is from another model line, full size, chevelle, corvette and he bought it because it came off a (327?) but more importantly a 64 4 spd car. I have the original two barrel intake w/carb & linkage I will be selling, as I don't need it. The carb I will be using is NOS in the box. I forgot to take a picture. I still have a couple boxes to go through, I know I have the alternator, water pump and original starter. If I come up missing anything I will check with you first, thanks, Norm
This looks to be a nice project. Looking forward to seeing the finished car Norm. Glad to see the glide going too. Much more fun with three pedals!
I had hand shifter's most of my life and then I sold the last one in 1999 and haven't had one since. I really think that is one of the most exciting aspects of building this car is I have an original trans, shifter and a car that came from the factory with a tunnel built for a floor shift. I don't need to modify the tunnel with an aftermarket floor shift hump. I just wish I had the money to jump in with both feet. We just bought a new bigger and better trailer for Florida this winter. Half way through a house remodel, I just bought a slide in range and large flat screen TV. I have my Corvette up for sale but that is moving and I even listed my hauler with plans to go back to a trailer since the new trailer will stay in Florida all year now. So, I have everything for the project except one piece of moulding and here I set until something sells or it's time to go to Florida. Thanks for reading about my dreams, Norm
