51 Hood Ornamnet - Pot Metal ??

The Indian head on my 51 has a crack in it that I would like to repair then rechrome.  Can someone confirm what type of metal is used for the ornament ??  I'm quite sure its pot metal but want to make sure.

Thanks much !!!!

I've got a 52 & will swear [damm] that its "pot metal" Can be repaired but make sure they know what their doing or it will be toast!!! I had a hood "grille" opening done for a 51 Mercury P/UP yrs ago, all pitted & cracked, took it to Cambridge Chrome, & I couldn't believe I got the same piece back!!! Cost around $400 but its very "labour" intensive to drill out all the pits, fix crack, copper plate then nickel & chrome plating

I was looking at the "muggyweld" site the other day - pretty cool stuff. Thats why I got more interested in getting the ornament fixed. Its in excellent shape - no pitting at all, only the lower portion below the head has a crack that needs filling. Their stuff looks good and not that expensive to play with - got a local industrial chromer I been getting stuff redone with so it shouldn't be too expensive over all.

Thanks for the help !!!!
Steve
