Anyone interested in Slot Cars ?

We just dismantled our home setup and threw it up on KIJIJI. Have a look, price is negotiable.

Ray
Here is a picture of my track. Homebuilt. I am still doing car stuff when the 1:1 car is stored.

Most of the guys I race with have a wood track. The market for some of the cars you have is pretty small.
I may be interested in most or all of the cars. I don't have any use for the track. I can let a few people know and see if anyone is interested.

Hopefully Fake68 will post a pic of his friend's home made track. I hear it's pretty cool too.

I race with the bought stuff. It's been a couple of years since we set it up in the basement over the winter. We have about 40 feet of track thanks to my nephew (67SD396) and it's seen lots of hard use in the 5-6 years we've had it.

Fun stuff. I had a Strombecker set when I was about 12 that I paid for with 19.95 of my hard earned money. Boy, did we wear that thing out! I remember my mom saying "Are you sure you want to spend so much money on that? What if you only use it a while and get tired of it?" HAHA, fat chance of that!

Eldon was my brand and my buddy had the Strombecker, Eldon cars flew on the Strombecker track. I finally figured out they were getting more juice on that system.

Anyway I have to go edit my ad as many cars have been sold. Thanks Canadian Poncho!

Cool stuff Ray! I wish I had kids to share that with. My Grandson is only 9 months old.
When I grew up in Vancouver, there was a store on west Broadway that had 3 big tracks set up that you could rent time on. You could take your own car or rent one of theirs. It was great fun.

In the late '60s there was a slot car track at the Agincourt Mall on Sheppard Avenue E. in Scarborough I used to frequent.

I had a lot of the AFX cars and sets when I was a kid. I remember a cool set I had called "Blazin' Brakes". There was an intersection track and a thumb switch on the controller. When you pressed it the car would stop and the taillights would come on. The cars were an 80 Firebird and an 80 Corvette. That set was hard on the cars as you'd nail each other going full tilt.

I still have one of my Eldon (circa 1966) tracks and cars. I kept this last one in mint condition.
I burnt with lighter fluid, a lot my tracks and cars imitating The Helldrivers when I was young.
I customized the transformer to put out more voltage. More voltage = more speed!smile
I'll post some pictures later.

Sorry I can't find any pics of Randy's homemade track. We started with box Scalextric cars but now we use mostly "slot it" cars. They are way faster but no musclecar bodies. I've hacked a few slot it chassis into the Scalextric bodies for "sneak attacks".

It creeps up on you but it's not hard to have $150-200 into a car by the time it's tricked out. But what a fun way to kill a winter night.

If there are some Winnipeg guys interested, Randy usually has a few "invite" nights a year. Let me know... 4 lanes.

I grew up with the smaller AFX and Tyco stuff. I remember getting my first track for Christmas when i was 5. It had two semis and the headlights lit up. My dad and i raced them with the lights off in the basement. I added all kinds of track and had a number of cars even adding my hot wheels to the displays. I'm looking forward to getting into that stuff again with my boy.
