Early this year, I was wanting a newer model Hot rod with A/C ....
I gave my old Ventura II to a friend, and bought a mint red 2000 SS Camaro Convertible (from California) It is a nice car, but did not satisfy my needs..
I took it back to the same dealer and bought his wifes 2010 Mustang GT Premium Convertible 315HP 19inch wheels, leather, loaded, 1600 miles on it... I loved that car, but it did not meet the need for a car with "wow" factor..
After we got back from N.B. we went to the trailer to cut grass and then to Goderich for supper.. I cruised past GM dealer, and Barb spotted a Camaro! I wheeled in and under the lights was a ORANGE Camaro with white stripes!! She took pictures, and we discussed trading Mustang... I went over Saturday afternoon(they were closed Labor Day W/E) The car was open? and I sat in it and adjusted the seat and it fit.. lol I e-mailed them, Monday night (Monday was Holiday) They responded Tuesday Morning I went for a test drive and liked the way it drove..
They gave me a price difference and I went home.. I was interested in car, especially with a low VIN number ! It was 9(Oshawa)A (2010) 000039!
I looked up a camaro site, and one post ,showed a list of recorded early VINs.. 000039 was "spotted" at Toronto International Car Show in 2009, along with a black one (6cyl) #000029 that was sold by the same dealer the week before!! I also found car on YouTube in Montreal and Quebec City! I went back on Wednesday and got a xtra rebate for owning a Pontiac and also for being veteran (I posted that info before) I took delivery Sept 10, and got full ONSTAR for a year and XM Satelite for 3 months etc I brought car home.. I traded a car with 3,400 km on it for a Exec. car with 17,460km on it....
End of story!!! Not yet!
I was given copy GM ownership and it showed car in service Mar 30-09... I looked on Camaro site and found Rick Hendrick had #1 VIN built on March 16-09 (First day of production) He had paid $350,000.00 for right to first car I was happy to think mine was # 39
Reading further I saw that my VIN "should read" 9A1000039, as The first Production car was 9A100001...
BUT BUT my car is 9A000039 How could this be???? Then I read about Captured Test Fleet cars built BEFORE reg production cars Makes sense as my car was at all the car shows and GM previews...
Another person says, that approx 750 cars were built before regular production and approx 680 were left and probably sold..
That being said I am excited to have the car in videos and have photos taken by Camaro website members...
Last piece of puzzle I got info from George and it states car was built Jan 20-09 BUT door sticker says 12/08 lol Todd said to contact George and ask about more info but George says he knows nothing about CTF cars.... so to end this story
This car, is the 39th 2010 Camaro EVER built!!! take that! Rick Hendrick!!!! lol

One of the boys I coached father is plant manager at Oshawa. He started working there in 1973 right out of high school. Anyway he was telling me about the cars long ago and they were even letting them bring them home for weekends back in early 2009 for shake downs. He had red one once a 6 cylinder.
This is what I found FIRST, and prompted me to look at YouTube for Toronto car Show in 09....
So here is what I have come up with so far.
VIN numbers weve seen 2G1FF1EV0C9000003 Victory Red 1LT LLT (manual) the test Car (Number 3) drove 2G1FE1EV9A9000021 Silver Ice Metallic LS LLT (manual) from the Portland Show 2G1FF1EV7A9000029 Black 1LT LLT (manual) from the Toronto Show 2G1FS1EW3A9000033 Victory Red 1SS LS3 (manual) the Test Car (HeatherR) drove 2G1FK1EJ9A9000039 Inferno Orange Metallic 2SS/RS L99 (auto) from Toronto 2G1FC1EV4A9000109 Rally Yellow 2LT/RS LLT (auto) from the Jacksonville Show

Almost starting to sway me from the Challenger..... Nice nice car Carl
I was not a Camaro fan at first and there are things on the Mustang, that I like better...
I loved the RT orange Challenger my neighbor bought!! He gave it to his son, who lets his girlfriend drive it, as she smashed up his Dads Sebring convertible ???
Nice contrast for your truck, with the opposite paint scheme. I've striped a few Camaros for my local Chev dealer, and they're very tempting! It's nice that yours has some history too!
Definately ooozes the WOW factor. Congrats Carl, beautiful car, great story (and AC to boot)! As they say...nicely bought!

Yup. Makes me want to quit my job that has no pension. I could go out and buy a new truck AND a new car, at least if I want to keep up with the "Carls"......

GREAT CHOICE Carl ! Nice upgrade from that Mustang for sure. You'll have a ton of fun with that car I'm sure.
The Mustang is a great car! It rode better, and had nicer smelling seats?, and better in-car lighting, and a better shifter, BUT not the wow I wanted ... A yellow Boss 302 for 2012 will be a match...

Carl, say it ain't so. You don't have the yellow Ventura II anymore?
I gave it to a friend and he gave it to a friend Now we have 3 happy friends
I found Carl a home for it in Welland, Ontario-Gaeton (Jack) Plante (905) 735-7587--I hear he would like to give it away too now-but no takers, shame-its a sweet car
