65 beaumont SD progress December 23... yes.. more progress... YAY!!

Dec 23 - still havent heard back from the appraiser about the value he's come up with, but.. hopefully by next week.. the car should (SHOULD) be travelling in the first or second week of January.  here are some new photos the resto shop took for me.

Oct 27th

bumpers mounted, and waiting for parts from the chrome shop.  will be turning over the engine within days now..
had a set back or two that pushed the starting of the engine a week.

it's comin'

Oct 19

today I got a bunch of photos of progress and notes on the BS that goes along with building a Beaumont.
The poor guy ordered a replacement lense for a 65 GTO.. and I've been too busy to realize what he had done till it was too late.. so.. instead of the 64 one pc tach lense, he actually made one out of the 65 lense and used it instead.  Looks great.. but sooo much extra work.  My bad.

bumper gaurds.. although NOS.. they didnt fit very well.. go figure.
Brake lines... although brand new... bad flares and leaked.. again.. go figure.
hope to start the car next week.  and have it recorded on video so I can hear the first turn of the engine..

oh the joys..

The tilt column is painted, wiper motor painted and installed, dash wiring almost done.

well.. got some more photos today of the progress..
got the bumpers back from Cambridge in Ontario
carb is mounted...

now rocker trim is almost completey on.. need info on tail pieces and mounting them.
I remember screws along the underside, but is there a mounting bracket the chrome hooks onto first?
or some kind of "cleat" to hang it on first then screw on?

November 14 2010

well.. it runs, it drives (kinda) and it looks unreal.  but.. it's still a little ways away from completed.
we installed the rear rocker trim tonight and it sets the car off really well.  having issues with the eyebrows (question asked in different posting)
console is in (not 100 % happy about it.. but the chrome job is amazing)

Wow Kelly, it's all looking great. (jealous tone in my voice!)

I love those Acadian valve cover decals when I see them. Definitely on my to do list.

Dare I ask what bumper plating costs? I have an idea you have at least 1500 bucks there? More like 2 grand?

You don't have to answer that if you don't want to...

1965   Your car is 45 years old!   2000.00 is cheap considering you will NEVER have to do it again......biggrin  = 44.00 per year    My bumper were 1600.00 4 years ago (although bigger than yours)    Enjoy !

a weeks vacation somewhere in winter will cost 2-2500 and you have nothing at end of week  disbelief

Heres some "big" photoswink

That's always the problem waiting for the pocket book to keep up with the want list.

Looks like the car is really coming along nice.

Good Job!

having trouble deciding about wheels..
I'm thinking the torque thrust (grey centers) will go well... but I see a lot of 64 and 65's with them now.
Maybe just some 14" rally's.. that way I can still put on the factory caps..

putting on this air cleaner

I do yes... but its the other style (regular base doesnt fit the edlebrock carb).
The "upside down" air cleaner style I really like.

I'd actually like to get a dual snorkel (L79 style) in black.

There should be a factory base to fit the Edelbrock because that's just a Carter from the old days and the 300 horse had a Carter too.

Do you have a repro air cleaner or an original?

Ok, I was wondering because I haven't seen a repro in real life yet. I was curious if they are as thick as the original. You know how that sometimes goes.....

I am hoping to figure out how to put that over my Holley. I love the original look.

just got back from Carlisle PA. One of the items on my list was finding an original base plate for an L79 breather. I was told if I find one it would be $500 plus and repops are not even close to originals.
