Stolen parts and stuff - Saskatchewan

I had a bunch of stuff stolen from me herre last week. If anyone comes across any of this stuff, let me know. I am sure this was targeted, not some random arseholes looking for scrap.

STOLEN:
1955 Chevy car grille - like new

1957 Chevy car front end sheetmetal - this is the front end that was on my hardtop on the Feb. 88 cover of 567News. Front fenders, inners, uncut V-8 rad cradle, splash aprons, horns, and side trim. This had the bottom splash apron extended out and welded/molded in. The chrome tube grille was not on it, but this was taken as well. Paint on it was midnight blue pearl with silver flames. There was still one or two of the gold louvers on it.

two 567 two door post doors. One was dark green metallic, the other light blue. Both were complete w/regulators and glass and were from 150 series cars - no side trim or stainless.

Blue wooden box approx 2' x 2' x 4' full of 57 stuff - headlight bezels and pots, hood rockets, extensions, and taillight stuff, plus a few regulators

Several 6 cyl. starter and generator cores

'848' casting 261 head

12 bolt posi rear end out of 1969 or 70 Chevy station wagon - old white spraybomb paint job highway gears 2.90's or 3.08.

Also taken were two Volkswagens - a yellow type 3 squareback and a early 60's beetle, cherry red in color.

There were some other things taken, not quite sure what all yet - most likely 56 Pontiac stuff - bumpers, fenders, and such.

front frame clip from late 70's Trans Am. Complete including all lines and proportioning valve

Any info on this would be appreciated.

Regina swap meet is this weekend, spread the word down there, I will copy and past the above to the car guys I know down there.

I hate to say it, but from your description of parts, pretty random, almost sounds like someone picking up scrap and cashing in. Check around with the local scrap guys, and see what's coming in.

Lots of pick a part guys around. I met a guy a month ago that was looking at my car at a buddies house and he commented how nice my shop was. He had never been to my house and I'm on 6 acres with the shop at the back. That creeped me out. A protective dog is a answer but once the dog tags one the dog is to blame, go figure? Out of sight is the best way to prevent theft.

It takes all kinds.... some have ba!!$ bigger than ...??

I have cars at my folks farm, no one goes out there that I do not know well. But word gets around , touch wood, no trouble to date.

AS for my shop in town, same rules apply,, If I don't know you ,,, you don't get in the door. When guys come to buy parts, I have the parts sitting just inside the door, no need to go any further. You may able to trust the guy that's standing in front of you, but his conversation the next day with his not so legit buddy might lead to the loss.

rural SK is a big place, I hope someone seen something.

I'm still leaning on it being someone picking up scrap..the crushers are hard at it right now.

After our big flood in 1997, we had a huge steel water tank (about 20'x8'x6') sitting in the back, close to the edge of a field. It floated in, then sank.

I came home one day and it was gone. A scrap guy who had been around the area came and took it, no questions about who owned it, nothing. Just came and stole it right off the yard.

Not all scrap guys have morals, that is for sure.

When I had to sell my first car (Buick GS clone) some guy came over to look at it. All he cared about was the ram air hood. He looked it over very carefully, even underneath. He said thanks and ran away! I chained it to the car after that!

Wow, that really sucks. No kidding targeted. Likely several people involved with big trucks, not your random "seen it from the highway" grab-n-run.

Around here, specialty items like that either get found right away, or they're never found again (taken out of province or country). Let's hope not the last one, or they get caught trying.

I see you're from the Melville area from your same posting on the Canadian Rodder forum (Sorry, not stalking, it just came up in a Google search).

I'm always looking at stuff around here, so I'll keep an eye out too.

We had some equipment stolen from the paper mill I worked at and taken over to a scrap yard in Hull Quebec. The company security went around looking for the stuff and the scrap yard had a record of the seller and he got disciplined. The receiver should be charger with receiving stolen goods, not knowing does not stand up in court. I will post the original post on a couple of sites I am on, you never know where stuff turns up. Good luck finding the parts.
