What to do????

disbeliefJust got back from Wknd. in St Jacobs area. While staying at a B&B the neighbour saw the 64 in D/way & said "nice car come see mine", well, over I go & am looking at 39 La Salle, 4 dr. in real nice shape but needs some engine work. It's for sale!!!  Now do I sell the 52 Torpedo Back & buy the 39 La Salle, or keep going on the 52. I just ordered 4 "AMERICAN TORQUE THRUST D'S" wheels for the 52 + I have the Custom Dash & guages for it & finishing the body work. I don't have room for the 3rd. car. & need it like a "hole in the head" but I can't get it out of my head!!!  Will think about this car all the way to Charleston W.V. & back next week.  HELP!!!!!confuseconfuseconfuseconfuse

I have the same problem, you need to learn to say no and just enjoy others' cars. The more cars you acquire, the more projects you have waiting for you.

It's a tough decision. That's the reason I don't keep cars for very long (the Dodge is on Kijiji by the way). I can't afford to have more than one really, but I want to experience so many different kinds of old cars that the only way to do that is sell and buy and then sell...

I'd keep the 52 and carry on with the project.

It's easier to find the answer with 2 or 3 beers.

Todd, if I could sell something it would make life simple. I had no luck with the Catalina, no luck with the garden tractor, & "ditto" with the Bonniville " seats!!  Kijijji just doesn't work!!!!, as well as newspaper adds, & other sites!!!   I have "no problems" buying, but selling is another story!!!!  Off the West Virginia on Tues. morning for a week. I'll check in when I get back!!!!!!

Well a '39 LaSalle is one nice car that's for sure. I love those and would love to own one as a turn key. I'm not too sure I'd be wanting one that was a bit of a project. The 52 is a project and you knew that going in. I vote to keep the 52 and put the La salle out of your mind.

I'd go with the Lasalle.  I fixed my old bush find 4 door 39 Buick (very similar car) with a 73 Nova front clip 327 700R4, stuck a 10 bolt in the already coiled springs rear suspension, etc and drove very comfortably across Canada back in 88.

Its a very handsome car, very solid, quite modern in some ways(the legroom is amazing) and you will not see another one coming your way.

If you want some tips I can tell you what I learned, but basiically those were very easy cars to work on as they were built to be fixed, the frames are extremely strong and and if I remember right on the Lasalle as weel as the Buick they had suicide doors on the back which, for some reason, the girls think is really cool.

My old Buick makes a great wedding car with any number of lovely brides over the years posing with that open suicide door.

A great family rod except that I have never actually gotten aropund to putting in seatbelts (hey in Alberta, if it didn't come with it you don't have to add it-at least thats what one cop told me.)
