STOLEN !!!!

DSC00025.JPG

Just got a phone call from a friend,  he had bought the the old Pines Drive In sign, and was prepping to pull it down next weekend .  Well,, someone helped themselves to it this afternoon !!!!

OK,,this thing is 16 feet long and 6' high, and on 10" I beams !!  not to mention on a bypass road that the oversize semi trucks have to take.

lots of questions ..no answers. IT would have taken a team and a couple large vehicles/ trailer.

Ironic....I just took this picture last friday ...sucks ....

Crazy !

located in Prince Albert SK....

Well that sure does suck.

What good is that sign to anyone if they can't show it off?

Is the frame wood, metal, aluminum? Someone didn't steal it for scrap value, did they?

He was hitting the scrap yard first thing this am, to let them know it was stolen.

It was made of steel and tin.

A land mark sign around here, the nice thing was , Sheldon ( the unfortunate new owner ) is a great car guy, and was going to have it standing in his back yard area beside his shop. He lives on a acreage just out of PA, and hosts the local car club meetings.

maybe...just maybe it will turn up, once the word is out that it was actually going somewhere to someone ? The drive in here has been closed for about 10 years and mother nature has taken back the grounds.

update,, so it  turns out that one of the owners , without talking to her brother, the other owner,  hired a construction crew to pull the sign down and drag it behind the screen.

It seems she was getting complaints about the rude graffiti that was occuring.

my friend had the deal with the brother,  he is still getting the sign, unfortunatly it was somewhat damaged when they took it down...

and to boot, the fire trucks were there today...someone started a fire in the bottom , they put it out quickly , no real damage, but it won't be long  before they are forced to pull it down and demolish it.

another land mark.....gone because of progress....
