First day at my new job, sort of...........

Due to some unforseen circumstances beyond my control, my thoughts of coasting towards retirement have changed. I am now the parts manager againconfuse

Two days after I turn 53 I have more responsibility instead of less. Hmmmm.......

The dream of Freedom 55 is going to be a reality at this end. Unfortunately it now means I need to continue working until 2055!

You didn't have to move.
You have a good boss.
You know the job.
You got a raise!!!!
Remember where you were at last year.

Take it as a sign:  You are still meant to do something; you're not finished yet.

The way I figure it you were probably still doing the Manager role even though you stepped aside for a while so now you get the recognition again for that added effort and loyalty.

Hey do they throw in a company car.....maybe that, excuse me .....Mustang that was in the showroom biggrin

It is a most interesting feeling, I have to say.

I talk to guys who are retired, and they love it.

I talk to guys who say they won't ever retire, and love the idea of working till they drop.

I'm so confused!!!!!!!!!

It's very true, I have it very good. I love to get up to go to work in the morning. I'll bet all of you know many, many people who hate doing that, or maybe even you are one of those people.

But when is the right time to say it's time?

I made a verbal commitment to do this for 2 years........ First day and I'm already wondering if I'm crazy to have said that!

You have no idea how many times I've stared at the pics of that 66 4 speed car!  Well, maybe you do have an idea.......

I'll get over this. It will all feel fine but it just feels kind of funny, like I turned the wheel one way and the car went the other way!

How did that work in "Cars"?    "Turn right to go left, yeah, that's it, turn right to go left. So I turned right, and guess what happened?"   biggrin

Well it's good to hear there is enough action there that they need a parts manager. I'm sure you wondered many times whether there would even be a job there. Great to have that choice now. Good luck with it. Guaranteed 2 years will just fly by.

confuse if I pay for half, that just means Carl has to work harder to pay it off.  I'm not interested in half of a 66GP unless my half is the drivetrain biggrin.  I don't want Carl working too hard either....

Hang in there, youngster. Save your money - set aside 100% of your raise every pay day. Just don't invest in stocks and bonds, eh? Simple in-the-bank, yeah hardly any interest earned but at least you won't lose it, eh? Spryness will last at least until you are 60 so you can still have lots of fun when you retire later, eh? I don't know what the 'retirement' payments from Canadian Gov't are or what dates you can start taking them, down here soonest is 62 and although they hold out more money if you wait until 65 or (even better for them) 70, they are counting on you dying so they don't have to pay at all, take as much as you can as soon as possible is what we are doing.

Take care, Carl.

Dave

I hear you Mike.... Carl needs some "garage time" for a certain project.
When are you visiting Winnipeg again?
