Posting items from kijiji, etc. in the "for sale" forums

This is a repost that I earlier wrote in the Cdn Pontiacs for sale forum, but it's buried in a thread for an ad that I had posted and I later thought that it would be more effective and appropriate to post it here (I'll remove the original posting to avoid duplication):

I tend to post a lot of cars that I find interesting that I see for sale on the net, thinking that perhaps a CP member might be looking for just that thing.  Technically I'm thinking that I might be breaking the rules as it's not really my item for sale, though it is for sale.  Other members generally appear to find them interesting as lots of people comment on the ads that everybody posts here.  The downside to all this is that members who actually have their own stuff for sale will have their ads lost in the shuffle, which is certainly not my intention.

I often read the forums at moparts (http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?Cat=0) where these type of postings tended to clog up the forums somewhat (moparts is a VERY busy board), so they actually created a separate forum for ebay, craigslist, etc. for just these types of postings.

So, my questions for those whom are responsible for this board:

(1) Is it acceptable to continue posting ads for items that we randomly find on the net but aren't selling ourselves?

(2) If the answer to (1) is "yes", would it be in the better interest of those selling their own items to have a separate forum for those of us who are compulsive internet old car shoppers and want to share our findings?

Sure doesn't bother me when guys post what they have found in the classifieds. I find it interesting and informative. When I have time to search for cars, it is usually limited to cars in western Canada, so it's nice to see what gets found in the east by reading here.

That's how I bought my 69 Biscayne.
(I think Todd posted the e-bay link if I remember correctly!)

It is possible to create another forum for cars from Ebay, Kijiji etc. however there's also the risk of having too many forums. For some of our non computer savvy members it can get pretty confusing.

I find that it does clutter the for sale section and think that the members on this forum should have an opportunity to have their for sale items not pushed down the list as non-member ads are listed. Most of the users on this forum know how to and do search on ebay, craigslist and kijiji if we are looking for something.
I think a separate forum for links to other sites with items for sale would be a good idea. One of the benefits of being a member should have some priority.
Maybe ebay, craigslist or kijiji would like to advertise on this forum for the traffic they get from Canadian Poncho.

True enough Brad however how many people on here actually post their cars for sale on here? Maybe 2%. The majority of the ads are kijiji. I'm not really sure how most of you guys surf on here. Do you go section by section or simply click "Recent Posts" like I do? If you do it like I do, it doesn't really matter what forum the ad is in.

I need to post the cars I find, so my good friend DualQuadPete and others, can push me back to reality again, instead of me going to buy onebiggrin and get myself into trouble...again.

Although. I do think Todd, should get some commission from Kijiji, etc. unfortunately probably won't happen. But I enjoy seeing the different ads coming up. Saves me from going to kijiji myself. Plus all the knowledge other forum members give. Greatly appreciate it.

I'm fine with it. I post stuff for sale as well as wanted but as Carl2 stated, maybe I don't have a life anyway cause I pretty much read everything that's posted on this site!

I go for Recent Posts 99.9% of the time.

I would leave the current structure alone and add another forum section called "Poncho Ads on the Web" or something to that effect... IMHO.

Not everyone scans all the online flea markets for cars or parts on a daily basis, but people DO come here daily (I'm convinced some members never actually leave!) and it's proven to be handy sometimes when someone finds a deal, or entertaining when a crazy ad is discovered.

It is my understanding that Canadian Poncho is for the preservation and restoration of Pontiac Vehicles. I feel that any Pontiac related items for sale should be posted regardless of where they are. We should have a separate forum for vehicles and parts that are not owned by members. This makes it fair for members and also gives car "junkies" a place to share their finds. Thanks Crazyj

you know i think i post the kijiji ads for beaumonts and such as kinda a discovery and recording kind a way,i like to go back and see where a car has gone or changed?

and if your looking for something later or remember a car you might want now there could be a phone number /email or at least a record of it.

I think this type of post should be done without an opinion attached.  I know we are all entitled to our opinions but bringing an ad to my attention is fine, just let me form my own thoughts on the item for sale.

I always hit "Recent Posts".

I think a different thread title would be great ... "Internet Ads" or "Internet Cars/Parts For Sale"

Thanks to everyone for all the replies.

In general it appears that most members tend to find the kijiji (and others) ads interesting, and some have even found cars/parts from them.

Unless something changes, I'll continue to occasionally post ads that I find which might be interesting/useful to the other members, in the "for sale" sections.  I'll try to remember to put kijiji or craigslist or whatever in the subject heading so those who are not interested can pass by them and view the items for sale by members.

Thanks again for taking the time to consider this issue.

-Mark
