can this swap be done?

i found a 1968 Strato chief with a 327 4 barrel 4 door powerglide and for a 1960 Laurentian 4 door with a V6
i want to swap all the mecanics from one car to the other
can it be done without cutting or buying new stuff???
everything is working on both cars
and i would sell back the 1968 Strato with a 6cyl

what parts would have to be swapped?
do i need to change all the way to the rear axle?
or only engine components, and which engine components?

In the pre-computer days, you can swap in any motor you can squeeze in. That's not the hard part. the hard part is making everything else fit, and work, once you get the horses between the rails. You will eventually need some fabrication skills.

What engine is that V6?

Do you mean a inline six instead of a V6 ?

I think you would have to find V8 frame mounts to put the V8 in the 60. I do not think the 68 frame mounts will fit. Not sure it would be a direct fit to put that old style 261 six into the 68 body. The 68 would have had the newer generation of six. Different mounts I am sure.  That old style 261 block was never put into a 68. I think the last year was 62 for that old style six in a car body. Correct me if I am wrong. The 68 would have had a 230 or 250 newer style engine.

yes, you will need the 59-64 style V-8 mounts...if only someone on here had a selection of old parts!!

Now you've gone and done it, couldn't you just keep it to one word answers,  like Carl.
