Anyone here ever ship a car overseas?

I might have a buyer for my 58 Dodge in Germany. Has anyone ever shipped a car overseas? Any recommendations as far as a shipping company? I'd prefer to use a company that would come to my door and take it from there. Although my last car went to Austria it was an easier transaction as it first went to a fellow in BC for restoration.

Thanks!
Todd

Both of my cars, the Ford and the Buick were shipped over seas. But have no idea on which companies they used. I know he got a separate company to tow it to the US, NJ, where they loaded it on the boat.

1 went to Germany
The other went to Spain.

Todd, mike right on the NJ part. Friend of mine sold a 63 Grand Prix & it had to go to NJ to be shipped. Make sure all funds clear the bank b-4 releasing the car. My friend didn't do that & there was a long battle between here & Switzerland b-4 he finally got his $$$$ owing.  I think the buyer drove the Poncho to the docks in NJ before he flew back???

Like Pete said aswell. Wait for the money too.
I had waited 2 weeks for both transactions to arrive.

I think The first guy offered me $500 to drive the Ford to NJ. But had to turn it down because no insurance on it.

When I sold the 59 Dodge, the buyer had the money wired to my account. It arrived in 2 days.

I do not want to sound negative or rain on any one here, but am i the only one that thinks it is sad that all these wonderful automobiles in North America. Are being sent off to other countries and will NEVER return. Never, never return. George.

I agree with you "long stroke" but it seems thats where the money is!!! Yrs ago at Hershey, most of the cars "sold" were on the way to the docks in N J If I had a buyer for one of my cars I wouldn't turn the sale down to stop the car leaving the country!!! CASH Is CASH & if no one wants it here then "you do what you gotta do" It's a shame I know, to see the cars going "off shore" Pete

I've had the car posted for sale everywhere local without any serious offers (other than some ridiculous low ballers) and someone suggested I try a few overseas sites and that's where I got some serious responses. It is sad..

I got a shipping price. $1500 USD from Toronto to Germany. Not bad!
That handles all the paperwork too.

Just means car guys (if there are any) will have to go overseas and buy old cars...

I think we are in a dying hobby, but maybe its just me   maybe I'm just dying

I don't know if this helps Carl but I was talking to a few high school kids here today when I went to pick up recycling bottles with my old 70 chev truck and judging from the interest we will always have some kids that will happily tackle what we think isn't worth fixing.  (Like one of my parts trucks)

Thats the way we started so at least the small town boys are still pretty tuned in to actual staightforward engineering and rebuildable quality. They are us.  Its good to see.(zits and all)  What we need to do is give them all the time and all the breaks we can even if we know 90% of the stuff they start won't ever get finished.

I know you're already doing that Carl but I just thought I'd restate it.
