lLooking for information to identify if there are body codes/vin no to prove it is original and imported into Australia as a righthand drive ? Also how many would have been imported ? It has Chev imparla 1965 dash.bucket seats. It looks very similare to my '65 4 door parisienne Australian fisher body. Can anybody help with info? or where I can find it? I have very litte computer skills. Sorry!
I recall a 1965 Parisienne convertible RHD on a Australian Pontiac site. The owner said that GM Canada built 12 or13 of these cars and I believe he said 3 of those were shipped to Austraila.
Welcome aboard Budgie!. Most 1960's RHD GM product shipped to Oz, S. Africa and a few other places were Canadian built K/D cars.. The '65 Chevy RHD dash is probably the original, checking it closely is it actually fibreglass?. Here's the GM Canada Vintage Services contact info below.. Ask for George!.
Post the tag details here! There were a few '65 convertibles imported into the UK by US Concessionaires Ltd of London. I just can't believe that there were just 13. The body tag should say 'EX RD' or similar...The dash of course was the '65 Chevy tranpsosed BUT there may have been slight differences between the Pontiac and Chevy versions, such as dash turn signal lights; I have never been able to compare them.
I should have added that there were about four Aussie dealers that imported built-up cars such as this, with tacit aproval from Holden's.

Welcome! That gold or copper dash is "different" eh Rohan.

Again is the RHD dash itself actually made of fiberglass?.
I find it interesting the wipers on this specific car seem to sweep in the same direction as a LHD car.. Is this typical to RHD GM B-Body cars of this era as usually wipers sweep in the opposite direction to give a clearer driver's view when LHD or RHD?.
And what of the '65 shown in the same pic as the ragtop?. Is this a RHD Canadian built car too?.

Reply to Ghost post. Yes you are right it's a'65 pillarless (brown). It's a parts car to much rust to repair. That is the car I went to see to buy side trims, grill & bumper for my 4 door autralian fisher body.(which I did).Didn't look at tags. By the time I got home I rang back for 1st offer on convertible, with my brother & father telling me that was the car too do. Also 2 door hard top in front of convertible. It's a'65 LHD but owner not shareing to much about it.Sorry, almost forgot. The dash is fiberglass and the wipers both start in the middle and swipe outwards.

Some of the rhd cars had 'lobster claw' wipers that met in the middle...saw a Citroen yesterday with that arrangement though so many companies have in modern times just left the lhd wipers on. The headlamps are also rhd of course. However, another aspect is the rhd steering box. (Saginaw?) ..this was I gather used from 1958-62 and possibly longer. The heater if fitted was either a recirculating one or if in the UK, SA, Aussieland say, a Smith's Industries one.
