GM Documentation

They did not get my "model" correct. Beacuse i did not send the cowl Tag
they said it was a beaumont instead of Beaumont Sport deluxe
They also sent me  photo copys of Chevy II
Specs and production options.

FOR THE MOST PART THEY ARE PRETTY GOOD.
ALTHOUGH ON MY 66 ACADIAN WAGON THEY SENT THE INFO BACK SAYING
IT WAS YELLOW OR Y CODE. THE CAR HAD A LOT OF ORIGINAL PAINT LEFT ON IT,
PLUS WHEN STRIPPED IT WAS NO DOUBT AWAYS  T CODE OR TAN.
I HAD TO DO A LOT TALKING TO CONVINCE HIM TO CHANGE IT.
KEEPING IN MIND THEY ARE GOING BY OLD FICHE CARDS THAT ARE HOW OLD.

i can expain that ,in your year the only way you can document a Sport Deluxe is by option Z03 on your cowl tag

since they do not have any recorded option info prior to 1964 ,all they have is your vin decode ,which would be a acadian beaumont on which it was based on!

dont ever loose the cowl tag or youll be in the same boat as our american friends

I remember fighting with insurance people 25yrs ago when they dropped
the Sport deluxe from my registration.
Given up on trying to get it back.
You would think that someone who is charging for this info would at least use the
info from the cowl tag. I even asked if this info was availible before i ordered it and
was told they had more info now. (got this same info 25yrs ago)
and photo copys of Chey II specs is no good either..
If i can pick up Parts books at swap meets you think they would have it by now.
what i really wanted was to know how many Sport Deluxe Converts were made.
Not how many Beaumonts.
thanks for listening

Too badno maybe George, would do it again?

I did ask him, to re check, my 2010, and he would not even make a call...confuse

He said my car was built on Jan 20th  and I have GM (different department) docs. that the car was at Montreal car show, a week before that.....   oh well   its only money

Lefty, it is disappointing for me to read your post seeing that after the package was received by you, you contacted me regarding this matter and said you had the cowl tag information listing the options. I asked you to email or post me a copy of the cowl tag info. Upon receipt of the photo of your cowl tag I confirmed that the cowl tag body number matched the VIN number and updated your package. We did charge you the difference of $33.90 CDN as most 1963 packages do not show option content so they are only $39.55 CDN, the packages listing options are $73.45 CDN. That was processed by us on November 8, 2010. Your package now shows your car as a Sport Deluxe and probably has increased the value of your car for you.
Without the cowl tag information there is no way from our records to verify if your car came with RPO-Z03 as options are not listed on the microfilm till the 1964 model year.
Engineering specifications were not available for 1963 Acadian models as they were based on Chevrolet chassis and sheet metal, so Chevrolet specifications were used. I did include a photo copy of the sales brochure in your package for your interest. Some years we have more information than others but I do not hold anything back, if 'new' info is found I always update the package with it as it becomes available.

OURWAGON, read your post on the colour problem, although I think this goes back a ways, I think there was difficulty in reading a 'T' and a 'Y' on the microfilm, but we sorted it out I believe after you contacted me. If not please let me know.

427carl, I cannot remember the car in question, but send me an email to work with VIN and details of the discrepancy and I will look into it. My work email is
george.zapora@cc.gm.ca

It has been a busy year for me, had a heart valve job in April (car guy with a valve job, what can I say?) so was off for 3 weeks, but in general am open to questions on a package. My limits are that I can only go by what is on the factory paperwork, but as the 1963 Sport Deluxe case above should show we are willing to work with the owners. Only if I have Body Numbers that I can match up to VIN numbers am I willing to put something on GM letterhead as I would rather not document a car than make it into something it is not. I trust you can all appreciate things like that.

CDN2pls2, if I have made mistakes on documentation done for you then please contact me either by telephone (1-888-467-6853 or 905-440-7636) or email at
george.zapora@cc.gm.ca
and we will sort it out. If it is copies of information you have received from others than I cannot help, but if it is information that you ordered from me then let me know.
Hope this helps clear the air a bit, I am here to help you all in the hobby where I can.

GZ

Thanks for your posts George. I think some of us take this service for granted. George does the best he can with the resources he has (I can imagine some of these micro fiche's can be difficult to read). I for one just want to say thanks for your efforts.

Thanks for stepping up George.

Are you willing to go back 19 years and redo my 65 Acadian that came up as a 68 Pontiac Acadian. Also I believe it has the wrong interior colour on it if I'm correct.

If so, you can PM or post here and I can get all the info for you.

And, glad to hear the valve grind worked out well!!!

Carl, if your 1968/1965 was done after June 1994 then I will gladly look at it, you would have to fax or email me a copy of what I did at the time. Fax is 905-440-7644, email is
george.zapora@cc.gm.ca

If it was done before that I dont think it was me??

Just want to emphasize I am not crabbing with anyone, just trying to make sure you get what you order. I cannot change things if there is only one or two options on your car and you expected more, or if your car turns out to be a clone, but lets work together. The valve grind was amazing, no pain, they just left a big scratch on the body work!

No, I'm pretty sure it was done in 90 or 91 George.

Thanks.

Hey George!!! Glad to know the "engine" work was a success and to see you on here again!!!

The docs have always worked well for me and had only one or 2 issues that were just a typo error.... No biggie!!!   Which reminds me, I have to get 3 more done here shortly!!!

Maybe I will treat myself as a Christmas present!!!

Good to hear from you again............

To George, you have always provided me with great service for which I am grateful. I think a lot of folks don't really know the ins and outs of having to work with such a massive company and very old archival data base. I never have any doubts that you have provided the best information available to you.

You sir are a class act for coming on board and offering to rectify these situations. I echo the others...Thank You! and we all wish you good health.

Thanks for the support guys, remember if there is a typo and I did the paperwork for you, contact me, I will always try and confirm and/or correct it. For all those whose cars I mistakenly said have L34 396 engines and they really are 283's , I understand if you don't want it corrected!!
As to the rev limiter, funny thing with the heart, my resting heart rate was always around 52 ( many years of cycling and running), after the operation it is 75, must be the solid lifters! Feels like you are on fast idle. But to anyone contemplating heart surgury, there was no pain, take it easy afterwards and don't be afraid, it will help in the long run. Had mine done at Toronto General and no complaints! They give a lifetime warranty.

Hi George, thanks for what you do. This is such a great inside track to our Canadian sport. As to my question, you listed on my 67 427 2+2 Ragtop 4 speed car that there were less than 13 built with this combination and I have always wondered how many were actually built ? Not selling the car so I am not worried about value just neat to know.

Yes , you did correct it!!! Actually, we had a "hearty"chuckle about it........

It was my "Johnny Cash" '68 Strato RCMP car that had a production date of '68 and wasn't shipped till '78 sometime!!!! (lol)
