1964 GTO/Beaumont Tach

Hi there.  well the car came to life over the past couple of days and that when the tach didnt come to life.  so.. I'm not sure if it's pooched, or if it's something I need to repair.  But.  i've found reproduction tach's from OPG, and was wondering if anyone here has any other sources to check out?
they're about 170.00 bucks from OPG..

thanks in advance.

Kelly, I've poked around a bit for those because I have a relative who needs one for his 67 Beaumont. I think that is pretty much going rate.

Some guys have said it's better to buy the repro because supposedly the originals can be burnt out if you use an electronic ignition on them.

I forget, do you still have points in your's?

Don't really know because mine are all stock but if you try a after market let me know because it's always good to see how the after market ones are.

As for the electronic ignition issue, my dads blue SD 4 spd has it and there isn't a problem with the original tach.

AMES!!!! ahhhh... I couldnt remember what the name was and it was in the computer that was stolen here in Vancouver.. thank you for that.

I have to ask.. IS there any difference between the tach in the GTO and Beaumont (1964 GTO) I met a guy today that owned an original 300 hp 327 12 bolt four gear etc... 65 SD and he was pretty sure there IS a difference.. but i couldnt see it.

here's a photo of original beaumont tach.

and I'm using an electronic "under the cap style" ignition.

here's the link to the ames catalogue.  On page 52 for the tach

I will go see if I can find part numbers in the GM books for both.

I am pretty sure they are identical but I was wrong once before...

6411751 fits 64 GTO and 64-67 Beaumont

6411950 fits 64 GTO w/electronic ign and 66 Beaumont w/electronic ignition.

So yes, identical part Kelly.

Looks excellent, as does the whole project Kelly.

The two shots of the tach, out of the cluster, are those your tach?

I noticed the part number stamped on it is for electronic ignition. Rare part...
