I had a 1955 Pontiac owner actually argue with me that his car came with a 235 in 1955. Indeed it does seem a bit odd that Pontiac would offer a 261 six or 265 V8s. Your brochure mentions a big six, suggesting the 261. Does it actually say so in the brochure? Thanks for your many postings.

My 1955 Canadian brochure does indeed spell out that the six is 261 CID and right next to it the small V8 is 265 CID.  Under that info is General Motors of Canada Oshawa Ontario!  Only in Canada EH!
