Pricey 74 Grand Am in PEI

Dunno if this is a Canadian Poncho or not....

Looks like a nice car but I don't imagine he'll ever see anywhere near that kind of money for it.  For that kind of asking price, he could at least put a radio in it.  Don't think I've ever seen skirts on a GA before either.

Appears to be a flipper in action as it has been "purchase recently from original owner"....  wonder how much he got it for?

I couldn't agree more!  I hope he likes it 'cause he'll probably be hanging on to that one for awhile!

Hey I recognize those skirts. On the '69 Caprice Hideways thread in non Canadian Pontiacs for sale, an identical car is (or was, it was sold last week when I checked) lurking in the background at Scotti's place. Two white Grand Ams with Grand LeMans skirts is a pretty big coincidence! It has to be the same car, the skirts just look so out of place on a Grand Am.  http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/index.spark?aBID=118110&p=3&topicID=39145031

I have two '75 Grand Am's and there is no way I'd get that kind of money for my restored 2dr coupe. This does have some good option's, especially the 455. I also know the owner of the one above in BC, he keep's trying to sell me that car but my '75 4dr is my project and I don't need another.

Probably been too harsh on this one. fender skirts are an easy item to take off put in the garbage, te wheel lip trim is still there too. As 76GLM points out it is a 455, car looks to be in good condition too however the price is still wishful imo.

Ray, you don't have to give balanced responses all the time.  And it's okay to back peddle now and then.  Now repeat after me:  Skirts suck.  Skirts suck really really big.

That has to be a low production car with the opera window treatment. Technically a Sport Coupe body style but without the louvers. This is an awesome looking car.

The market for this era A bodies in pretty soft. My personal opinion on value is this. '73 GTO's rarely sell for $10,000, Can Ams often sell for $12,000 and up. Grand Am production was about 20 times the GTO and 100 times the Can Am. 1975 would be the least desirable of the three years even though it is the lowest production. My crystal ball says car would sell if it was priced at $8750.

Since I own a couple of '75's I need to chime in. I alway's hear how the '75's are not as desireable as '73 and '74 Grand Am's, '73 GTO's and '77 Can Am's, so why is this? Just because they de-tuned the engine's? My opinion it's a matter of what you like regardless of production number's. I really like my Grand Am's and of all the Pontiac's I've owned including a '77 Can Am their my favorite. The '75 above is really a nice car and probably worth $10,000. Try to restore one, it's going to cost more than that. Any Grand Am from '73-'75 with the 455 and a decent option load is worth looking at. No matter what '73-'77 Pontiac "A" Body you own none will drive and handle as well as the Grand Am and that is a fact!! Jim Wanger's has been in my '75 GA 2dr and he was amazed at how well it drove, he told me that it was one of Pontiac's better car's, they just didn't know how to market it.

I think the '75s were a sales disaster coupled with catalytic converters and lower output engines and the general view is '75 is a bad year in any car. Personally I love the look of a Grand Am and the 75 with the painted rear bumper is especially nice.

The fact is 73-77 A bodies just are not worth that much and in general forgotten hence less desirable. I have had three LeMans of this era myself so I like them. I would be elated if I got $4,000 for my car if I was to sell it but I accept the fact that most people look at it, turn away and laugh.

These cars are sort of like Mutts.

People either like these car's or they don't. I have alway's received postive feedback on my '75 GA. In the end all that matter's is that I like it, I must as I have owned it since '89. It's been very reliable making many trip's through the states. Ithink there is far more appreciation for these car's now than '89 when I bought it. You can't beat the 455 and the factory sunroof option, both option's being the reason I bought the car.
