Now to find out what the last Beaumont was. I bet George at GM could tell us.

I don't think we should confuse the date of the article with production ending. Back in those days new cars were launched on the same day, usually after Labour Day in September so the August date on the article is most likely a press release item in conjunction with the new 1970 models coming out. By August the 1970 cars would have been on the line anyway and plants usually shut down for a number of weeks to get ready for next model year.

My opinion is the last Beaumont was most likely made in June 1969 so the car we have could well be one of the last.

Weyepopping.gifW!!!

It's doubtful the car shown in the original pic is 'the' last car..
Who's interested in a collective effort for packages from George if he'll supply info and the Vins of the last few Beaumonts shipped..
The last few seems necessary as the last shipped may not be the last built also keep in mind how assembly plant operations often produce Body #'s that aren't necessarily in order of sequential Vins..
I'm hoping the last one is a Black SD L35/Stick Post car!!!

And per the picture, it looks to be one of the nicest examples!

Great article and recent pic guys, thanks for sharing! Should the owner of the car in the recent pic read this note, is it possible for you to provide a pic of the original air cleaner decal? Thanks, Whitey

He is a member for sure. I might be wrong but I don't think that air cleaner decal is what you want to see, I recall it is a Chevy Turbo Fire version.

hi i am the owner of the car. when i purchased it about 3yrs ago it came with the gm documentation showing a production date of june 23 69 and a shipping date of june 24 69. there was a lot of paper work that came with the car but unfortunately no original sales bill or protect o plate . i am the fourth owner, the car has 64000 miles ,original body panels, original drivetrain and has been painted once (2000

sorry i made some sort of posting mistake. i did notice the late build date but did not think it was the last one made. my reasoning for this was that in the early to mid 80's i worked at the gm plants in oshawa including the plant where beaumonts were once made.the model change over usually happened in the last week of july and the first week of august. this was the plant holiday time as well and sometimes the shut down was extended depending on the changes made in the plants. in the registry i see few beaumonts made in july or august . were beaumonts made into july of 69? is this the last one made? i don't think so, maybe the last known one currently on the road. as noted the air breather sticker is incorrect. i would like to finish by saying that i have found this to be an excellent site with great info, cars and members. hope this answers some of the questions about the car.

smile69Laurentian, it appears the last Beaumont built by General Motors in Oshawa was on June 25, 1969, it was a V8 Beaumont station wagon of all things. The last Z25 car was a Beaumont Deluxe with an L35 just two days before. Note that many more have been 'built' around the country since then. Merry Christmas to the Beaumont folks!

That is very interesting for sure. Gives us something to look for at summer car shows. 69custom, looks like yours built just two days before the end of the line.
