A little update on the tempest

Well all has been goin well on this one in the shop. A 65 Tempest 2dr. Just mainly doin a bit of freshing up. Well as you can see one thing led to another and it seems to be coming together decent. Heres what I started with. This was the end of July. My mother is real partial to this car so it is mainly being done for her. We have owned it since 1999 so figured time to do a clean up

Up in the air

frame all prettied up.

Small block 400 out of a 70 lemans (sorry Kim)

Body  back in place

Power back in place

Had a friend do all the wiring again and this is starting to go back in now.

I was gonna try and put it in High build today but the weather just wouldnt cooperate. Guess Ill have to wait for another day This is the way it is in the shop now. This again has all been done here in the garage. Nothing farmed out

We also have all new black interior for it so Hoping to have this one out by mid spring.

I love it. You call that a cleanup??? I'd hate to see your full restoration!!!

What did you use to lift the body up to put it on the jackstands?

Thanks guys. Ya Carl it was supposed to be a clean up but one thing lead to another and figured we were this close just do it right. There was virtually no body work other than sanding it down. It was a little tricky to lift the body. Used 2 floor jacks and 4X4 posts through the wheel tub and under the front floor pan.

Johnathan I used a 4 1/2" strip disc on a angle grinder. I will try and get some info for you on them. The nice part of these is they dont heat the metal and take everything off.

Yeah my idea of a clean up is a little Windex and may be a touch of Armoral!

Thats ambition!

Well have been plugging along in the shop still. Unfortunatly there was a death in my family and well to keep my mind busy I figured just stay in the shop. Well averaging about 10 hour days for the last 5 days We got the front end all back on. 1st coat of high build went on about 3 weeks ago so started the blocking. Got all that done and today managed to get the second coat on. It will be set a side for a little while as another project has come up for a friend. I will get some pics up of that one on another post.

Sorry to hear about your loss Marty. (We lost my father in law just prior to Christmas, and then gained a nephew just after. If nothing else, life is a roller coaster.) Our thoughts are with you.

Thanks for sharing the photo's of the Tempest. Very inspirational!
