It is pretty darn cold in southern Ontario today, Calgary is near Antarctica temperates and a good part of our country is covered in snow and ice already. If we waited until November we'd be harvesting frozen pumpkins!
The good thing in the Great White North is there are plenty of US Thanksgiving celebrations too, especially for those of us who live so close to the border so lots of us have two Thanksgivings! Ours and yours.
Did you know that Thanksgiving is only celebrated in Canada and the United states. The first Thanksgiving in Canada occurred in 1578 in Newfoundland as "the Order of Good Cheer" and in the US at Plymouth Rock in 1621.
In Canada the traditions are very similar to those in the US primarily attributed to the United Empire Loyalists who fled the US after the Revolution War.
Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States, and on the second Monday of October in Canada.
Enjoy your Turkey everyone no matter if it is your first or second one so far this season !
Let the Shopping begin !!
