I was looking at some historic photos of Halifax and came across this Meteor in what looks like light blue with red interior. Does anybody else have any pics of strange colour combinations back in the day?
The cars are cool but that photo from the Citadel is awesome. Look in the harbour, I don't know what year this ( 64/65/66?) is but holy cow did we ever have a fleet of warships back then.
At the end of WW II Canada had the third largest Navy in the world and it shows in this photo, I count 15.
Oh, I think the car is silver with red.

May I point out the Vauxhall Victor FB Estate Car (Station Wagon), whihc probably rusted away a few seconds after the photo, and the Austin or Morris..probably Austin, 1100? It's next to the '58 Pontiac. I am sure that there's an Austin A110 in front of a Corvair [extreme right] or is that wishful thinking?
I keep thinking that the car on the right front row is a British Ford Zephyr Mk II. These were sold in the US and Canada of course. Vauxhalls and Opels [?] were sold by Chevy dealers and Envoy/Epic versions by Pontiac dealers. Ironiocally the Envoy version of the F-series Vauxhall Victor was developed by Paul W Gillan of the US Pontiac studio!
The '57 to '61 Vauxhall F-series Victors were I think sold alongside Opels in the US by Buick dealers.

You are probably right Oracle and you have reminded me that Pontiac dealers sold the Vauxhall in Canada so there we have it, a Canadian poncho more or less in the photo besides the tail of one.

Whoa. See what you mean about the warships. We had our day...and then we turned to peace keeping and dealt ourselves right out of the Cold War.

We had a 65 Meteor Montcalm 2 dr ht. It was red & white inside and silver outside. This car could also be silver over red.
Here is my version of a strange color combo. Sierra Tan Metallic paint with 932-red interior. The car is now more gold in color than the original paint. The door jams still have the original paint and color.

These may not all be Canada's warships. Given the amount of traffic on the Citadel (which you never see unless there's a special event) it's possible it was some kind of international event. If I come across some context for the photo I'll post it here.
As for the Meteor, I was comparing it to the grey Falcon to the right front of it - and looking at all the other colours in the picture, I don't think it is colour shifted to blue. In my opinion the exterior colour is blue, like this wagon:
As an avid reader of High Performance Pontiac, I saw a really strange combination a few years back in a car that they featured. It was a mid 70's bright yellow Trans Am with a red interior as well. The red interiors in Trans Ams weren't all that common from what I have seen.
As luck would have it, I was able to find the HPP article with the Goldenrod Yellow T/A and red guts. Here is the link and one picture. The article is a great read.
That Emerald Turquoise with red interior 67 2+2 posted above is original and even has a 250 six. Oddball!
Many years ago I saw a very strange 1968 Pontiac 2+2. It Burnished Saddle with a Grecian Green 2-tone on the roof (it clashed). Interior was the weird Ivy Gold, sort of a lime gold. The car definitely needed a colour change.
I have seen numerous gold cars with dark green interior (GTX, Chevelle, Bel Air, COPO Camaro), plus a few Gobi Beige with dark green interior 1970 Chevelles (LS6 coupe, a base Chevelle & a Malibu Sport Sedan).
I have seen a Shadow Grey 1970 Chevelle SS with dark green interior, plus another with bright red interior (also seen on a 1970 Impala Sport Coupe when new.)
There was a Mayfair Maise (Butternut Yellow) 1969 Beaumont with a Provincial White 2-tone & red interior.
Around 1986 I saw a 1966 Malibu SS convertible, Mist Blue (light blue) with red interior (don't know if it was original but it still had the Argent back panel).

I know it started as a interior post, BUT the newest car is a 1967!! What happened in 1967? Canada was 100 years old... Ships were in Halifax for celebrations June 67
Interior colour choice for a Antique Gold 69 Beaumont are black,Med green, Midnight green, Saddle, and parchement. Is strange they would pic greens. Light green might work but the dark green IMO would not.
