Vintage Chevrolet Club of America

I have some friends that are members of the local chapter of the VCCA. They have asked me about joining the local club but in order to be a local member I have to join the national club. I went to the national club forum and asked if Beaumonts were recognized and was told that they were not. It was suggested that I put together a presentation to submit to the club saying why Beaumonts and Acadians should be recognized by the VCCA. I have no idea how to go about something like that. I mentioned that they were recognized by Chevelle and Nova clubs. What do you guys think? Should they be part of the Chevy club? The club only judges original cars so I couldn't win any awards, not that that matters. See the link below for the thread. Do you see any info that I posted that is not correct? Suggestions??

James, I'm not sure what to say.

I took my 66 Grande Parisienne to POCI in 1986 and was welcomed with open arms.

I took my Acadian to POCI in 1990, 1994 and 1996. In 1990, I pulled up to the hotel and someone came running over to tell my I couldn't bring my Nova into this show. Despite the rocky start, the rest of the time there went very well!!

1994 and 1996 it went very well. However, in all instances, nobody knew where to place my car on the show field.

I don't go to shows to be judged anyway, so it's not a big deal.

I guess my question is this---

If you are in the US and have a Beaumont or Acadian, what ARE you supposed to do? The Pontiac guys don't want you and the Chevy guys don't want you if you are looking to be judged.

I'm a member of the VCCA and have been for about 28 years. We have a '55 Chev BelAir Sport Coupe and also a '67 Beaumont Custom Sport Deluxe.I've asked the question about Beaumonts being recognized as vehicles eligible for membership but never really got anywhere and I never pushed it.I have taken our Beaumont to a couple of VCCA meets, the last one being in Vancouver,Washinghton in 2009 and it was quite an attraction. You'd be surprised,or maybe you wouldn't,how many people in the U.S.have never seen a Beaumont.I know that if you take a vehicle other than a 25 year old Chev that you would not park with the recognized Chevs. The VCCA seem to have a core of older, long time members who stick very close to the club rules and regulations as far as vehicles being kept as close to stock appearing and I don't think they would accept anything other than Chev(although I'm sure GMC trucks are O.K.).That's why the VCCA was formed and that's probably a good thing. When I get a minute,I can send a note to a couple of regional directors I know and see what the response is.

Carl, I don't care about being judged. I am a member of a few chevelle clubs so I at least have somewhere that I feel like I'm part of the group. Most Pontiac guys hate the Beaumonts and Acadians because they are Chebby, the common term they use, powered.

Barney, I would appreciate if you would ask some of your VCCA friends about this.

Don't forget that WE are now welcome and regonized by POCI !!!

through the efforts of our members here..

The "Canadian chapter" of POCI

is the "home "of Canadian Pontiacs, and GM Canada Beaumonts and Acadians.....

Tell the Vintage Chevy guys to take a hike!

I agree with the last few posts. We used to go to the Frankenmuth show and we found quite a cavern between Chevy and Pontiac collectors. Even though our Beaumont was quite a novelty for them they made it clear that what we had was a basterdized Chevelle. Anyway it was fun to experience that.

I am a 11-year Mod at Chevytalk..a pioneer member in fact. Acadian, Acadian Beaumont and Beaumont cars are most welcome, and we get queries about Canadian Pontiacs as well

http://www.chevytalk.org

I wonder where anyone would put the Swiss-made Chevrolet Beaumonts then? 1962-3 Chevelle chassis and badges with Aacadian Beaumont bodies?
