The next wrinkle of the month,. Being myself big amateur of Pontiac " FULL SIZE ", wanted to introduce you the following jewel. , urban legend,  I know a guy who.   I know where there has one of it who sleeps in a barn. » And good my friend Renaud St Pierre de Loretteville found.  a Pontiac Strato Chief 1968, two doors sedan, with motor 427pc!
In 68 in the series of the Pontiac Full Size Canadiens, was made up of The BIG PARISIAN, The PARISIAN 2 2 (sports), The PARISIAN, LAURENTIAN, and The STRATO CHIEF. The BIG PARISIAN the being most luxurious. In motorization, they found six online cylinders 250PC 155hp, the 327PC of 210hp (carburetor in two bodies) compression 8.75 - 1, the 327PC 275hp (carburetor four bodies) compression 10 - 1, the 396PC 325hp and finally the 427PC 385HP both, compression 10.25 -

1. The first owner bought the car to JW MORIN of ST GEORGE and laurait kept during 35 years. The second landlord, 5 years old. The car na that 57000m. Also let us note that this Pontiac is brakes with disc, dune blocks stabilizing oversize, dun differential of 3.08 and dune transmission 3 speed TURBO 400. It weighs 4136 lbs. Rims are those of the GTO or lemans of the same epoch. According to inscriptions of the driving compartment, it sagirait of the 11eme unit taken out from the line of manufacture of OSHAWA (Ontario) .Renaud do not intend to roll Pontiac on the Lane daccélération, as he makes it for his Chevelle Malibu on 1979. However, can be will accept - t - it an invitation in « SPECIAL IMITATING THE STYLES OF AN EARLIER PERIOD of Bridge-red ».

Carl used the on line translator above. I'm not going to bother fixing it, you get the idea.

I use the google toolbar and it has a dropdown offering a translator. I bet you use something else that has no option for that.

I think there are sites that you can copy and paste the French text and it will translate for you.

This question may have been asked before - how many '68 427 Canadian Poncho B bodies are there out there. How many were built, how many survive, all that stuff. Model breakdown (Strato vs Laurentian vs Parisienne etc), tranny breakdown (auto vs standard), are there any figures out there for '68s?

Heres my 2 cents  N/C
In the sixties, not many Cdn Pontiacs were ordered with 396's or 427 in "plain racer style"  because they were not NHRA approved... (Chevy power in Pontiac)
I know, my friends white 396 Strato Chief, was "special ordered" and he was allowed to race it (officials were his friends) and it was raced as much on the street....
In 66 we know that there was 2 427-425's in Fredericton N.B. amd 1 in Niagara Falls area..
I think most were raced, beat on, traded, rusted out  etc..   My friends 66 ended up in a town in N.S. with a 283 3 speed in it, and smashed to the firwall, in 1970..  Sat, in my other friends, Dads yard, to 2005, and was crushed then...

1967's were 427-385's and 68 was 385's and 69 were 335 and 390hp

I am willing to bet that the number of Big Block "racer style" cars was 15 or less each year!

Even on the Chevrolet side, there are very few "real" 396- 427 Biscaynes Bel Airs left......
Because of the availability, of many more Chev sedans, there are are many more nicely done clones

But Pontiac Strato Chief Laurentians???   4-5-6-7 left in the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!shocked.gif

p.s. shocked.gifshocked.gif The only year you could get a 427-425 PONTIAC was 1966 shocked.gif

2nd main reason why fellows ordered Chevies  you could get the big boy in 1965-66-68-69

I haven't checked this site out in quite a while. Yes, I knew the car existed at least two years ago. I found it when on a Google site and contacted his friend as the owner does not speak English. The car is RIGHT and IS one of the five made, according to GM. He took it to the drags last year and I would have to check my old emails too see what the results were. I have copies of those pictures that someone posted however I wasn't sharing the information in case I could purchase it however I was advised it was not for sale. That car, my car and the one I saw in Simcoe in 1973 makes three of the five dark green; big colour for those years. His and the one in Simcoe were both automatics. I spoke with a gentleman from just outside Belmont who said he had one, which was Black, and he sold it years ago to someone in Texas. A third party had sent me to this individual however I am certainly reserved as to the authenticity of his statements, ie I would need documentation to actually believe anything he actually had to say. My documentation as to five comes from GM and is in writing. I think the car referred to above is in a heck of a lot better shape than mine even though I am doing a body off restoration. When I'm done it would be interesting to see them side by side.

I worked with a fellow at a Cadillac dealer who also owned a 427 68 Strato Chief. He worked at Sinclair Pontiac back in the 60's and said they used to race it at St.Thomas. The reason they bought it he says, was to complete with Central Chev and their 427 Biscayne. His name is Doug Crellin and he currently is sales manager at Exeter Toyota.
Here's the website with his contact # CLICK HERE
Doug is a great guy and a car guy. He showed me a photo of the Strato Chief years ago. It was about 8 years ago and I don't remember the colour. I do know he said it was a 4 speed.

Hey guys, I'm the one who wrote that article. I own the site. sorry about the only french version . For my Next Poncho article I'll tried to make something As I've said to others , car is not for sale now,but I've just talked to the owner and maybe in spring it will be. The car is in pretty good shape, Engine is 570000 m, have been redone, compression lowered to 9,60, same 390 cam. new hoses, whether strip, new carpet. differentiel have been redone. The front discs are new. The car have gave 395hp a 498lbs of torque on the dyno recently. the only thing that need to be touch is the front seat. My friend Renaud is a mecanic , you can be sure of that car is running perfectly. Dont worry , I cant afford that car, I'll keep you posted as the status of that car.
About my site ,take a look at the pictures of a Beaumontcrashing at the 1/8mile .At thate time, I wrote that an oil leak got the car to spin, but since thenthe cause is a broken axle. my friend is ok , thank's to the roll cage and the safety belts.
the car will be rebuilt.
