One article on p.20A December 6th issue of Old Autos is on the '60 US model Pontiacs.

The second article on p.12B is on Acadians, Beaumonts and Canadian cars in general.

Both articles are written by Rheal Larose, who I think is on this site under the name canadien. He is a very knowledgable writer and a great guy.

On p.33 of the same issue is a great shot of a '65 Pontiac Custom Sport owned by Trevor Roberts of Arthur, ON (licence 1965PONT). Does anyone know this car?

Yes there is an article in there, I read it.

This is my second issue, someone got the subscription for me. Generally I read this paper and shake my head. There is an ongoing series in there about Pontiac but all they discuss is US Pontiacs. They are nice enough but very little relevance in a Canadian publication. The Acadian article is not well written in my opinion. It's like reading the Hurdville news about Uncle Clem coming in for the weekend and the weekly bridge club meeting. I can't even get through the paper before putting it in the blue box. Too bad someone wasted the subscription fee on me.

Hows that for an opposing opinion Jonno?

I don t know but I have subcribing for years its a great Canadian content paper as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention excellent events section good classifieds cruise night listings reports on show/events. By volunteer writers. And I believe Perry Zavitz who has published a book on Canadian cars writes about Canadian pontiacs. Anyway not saying its the best but let me know if you come up with something better Canadian. I won' be cancelling the subcription anytime soon though

I've been a subscriber since 1987. I think it's a great paper. Lots of Canadian coverage, including many features on Canadian Pontiacs, Meteors, etc. Other than memberships in POCI, National Impala Assoc and Late Great Chevys, it's the only car publication I subscribe to. The only complaint I've ever had is about delivery times - sometimes more than 2 weeks.

I just renewed my subscription. I have to admit I buy it for the classifieds. I've found many a deal on a car in there including my 59 Dodge, my 60 Catalina,  and a 64 Corvair.

My 2002 Trans Am made it into the December 6th issue.  Dorian did a write up on the Orilla Firebird cruise and they posted a picture of my 2002 convertible.
I guess 2002 must be considered old now as it made it's way into the Old Autos newspaper.

I dropped my POCI membership as I didn't find it benifial for up here, the Smoke Signals came a mth. late & anything parts wise I was looking for was gone. The conventions are too expensive to attend & no get togethers for canadians. Specialty chapter ,as far as I know, has no gathering of members, so why give the $$$ away when you don't get anything in return??? Am I wrong here or what????

I'm also an Old Autos supporter. Bill Sherk did a story on my '34 a while back. I can't count how many times this paper has helped me out with this particular car.

I look forward to the Old Auto's coming every 2 weeks. I used to enjoy "Sherks" chasing down lost cars, but now it seems people get in touch with him & he does a article on their car, How hard is that??? I wrote him about that & he said he has to put alot of research into the readers car????  Maybe I'm too "critical" or the Detective name should be dropped from heading, as he's not doing much "detective" work on finding the car?????

Ray, is it not time to start getting into the Christmas spirit. A little harsh there brother. The paper is ok. I first subscribed when it started in 1987 and get it off and on. Mostly for the calender of events. If it was'nt for that paper i would not know of any of the many events in our hobby. I catch mistakes and errors on occasion but it is our Canadian hobby paper. In the winter it is nice to stay in touch with our great hobby via this publication. It is too bad that you dislike it that much. As far as articles not being that in depth. I suppose you can only get so much info in there before people either lose interest or there is not enough room in the paper to house it all. I would encourage people to give the paper a chance. It is all we got. Cheers. George.

Back at the ranch. The article was suppose to let us revisit the 'pontiac non-pontiac' discussion
