I've got four winter tires on the factory rims on my CTS. These darn things are always losing air. I've taken them in for repair and they've found no problem. I've had them reseated...no fix. I'm now wondering if I should get some of that leak fix in a can that you spray into your tires (if they still sell it)? Suggestions are welcomed. thx
PS I can lose 20lbs of preasure over the course of a week.

I'm no expert, but dont put that stuff in your tires unless it is an emergency! When I had that problem it was all four tires and they were brand new, it turned out to be that the rims werent prepped for new tires. I took them back, had them cleaned and re-installed and never leaked again.
If, and I am sure they are, aluminum wheels, generally the bead is where they will leak. Also at the valve stem. Corrosion plays a big factor. My '02 40th GTP has the same issue. I have new tires on there and I have the same problem. I popped the beads to clean the rims and if they do it again, I will use bead sealer...
I used bead sealer on older steel wheels with rust issues with great results........

My S10 that my grand daughter drives loses air all last winter.. Summer was fine..
I took winter rims to "my" old tire shop; and had them buffed and resealed with bead sealer... they have not lost a drop of air.... When I ran the shop we always guaranteed our work If you had them done recently and they are still leaking take them back(tell them I sent you)
On the rare occasion, that our work didn't hold, we dismounted them and painted the inside of the rims with paint reg paint
Dismount the tires, buff the rim, some paint or bead sealer, remount and I bet the problem solved. The rims on my girlfriends 2003 Olds Silohette minivan were so corroded that I ended up replacing them. They had a chrome coating on an alloy wheel and there seemed to be some kind of chemical reaction going on once the salt got under the chrome. Tried to reseal them all last winter but nothing would work due to the huge pits where the bead sealed.
PUT SOME TUBES IN, my 61 has older style thin white walls lots of tread but cracks due to age. some tubes, $10 a tire is cheap no leaks and keeps the oldsytle look or slow leaks to a minimum

Tubes are a no no in radial tires especially on aluminum wheels.... trust me I know
Just went through this with two of the factory rims on my 89 GMC, take the tires off and wire brushed the rims, and bead sealer...They seem to be holding up so far....

Carl, i hear that some aluminum rims also had a porosity problem and would leak continually... these need to be replaced. Is that what your painting of the inside of the rims solves?? Beads are common on alum rims, particularly in winter conditions, but it may be possible that it's a bum set of rims?? not likely all 4 though....
Thanks for the feedback guys. As usual, sounds like taking shortcuts is not the way to go. I'll have to get them re-done... thx

Yes that is correct.. It didn't take much to stop the leak from the porosity.. Some new aluminum wheels, I sold were painted at factory.. I did try tubes in some real problem aluminum wheels, and they eventually "rubbed through the tube"
