66 Impala/Pontiac cruise control unit

This is NOT mine and I don't know the seller. I'm posting this more to show Ken (66GrandeGuy) what the setup looks like for his car.

All American Classics, Inc.

(Stock #AAC)
This listing is for what we believe to be a 1966 Chevrolet Impala Cruise Control. We bought it from a customer who took it off a 1966 Impala that he is restoring; however, on the side of the unit, it is written in grease pen "off '66 Chevelle SS." Please do your own research and know what you are bidding on. The mounting bracket has #3864650 stamped on it. This item is sold as-is.

Shipping

Winning bidder to pay for domestic UPS shipping & handling, including insurance.

* International, Alaska & Hawaii buyers please write for a shipping quote. *
* Canadian Bidders - We normally ship via U.S. Postal Service into Canada. Despite being right next door, there are still often delays through USPS. Please be aware of that and blame them for any delay, not us. UPS costs more but you will get it much more quickly. *
* Please read the auction terms at the bottom of this page. *

* Washington State residents must be charged sales tax. *

Thanks I've never actually seen one on a 66 pontiac but it sure looks like the one in the  66 pontiac owners manual picture.

Has anybody out there ever actually used one of these.  Do they work I wonder?

Many years ago I was driving down Portage Avenue in Winnipeg (main drag) and spotted a 66 Parisienne convert at a repair shop. I was totally surprised to see a basic 283 powerglide bench seat car that had one of these cruise units. It's the only one I've ever seen in a Canadian 66 B body Pontiac.

Yes, they worked, although I don't know if they are as accurate as the later vacuum pot style units. This one looks to be fairly complete, but it's sure not cheap! The long rod is different from one engine to the next, so if it's a small block unit it's wrong for your car.

Thanks Carl i figured if anybody would know it would be you.  Maybe when I'm back in the black I'll start sniffing around.

I can't see that it would be that hard to change the rod if thats the only difference between a small block unit and a big block.  Knowing that they were the same on all chevies too gives me a lot more units to search on.

I guess I'm just obsessed with loading up my car with gadgets gizmos and geegaws.

Thanks!

a few years ago i helped wreck out a 66 wagon it was a two door and had a 396 325 hp with a 400 and a 12 bolt, it was a odd car that should not have been wrecked out, it had cruize and some weird hydrolic suspention thing under the hood to level out the ride or something, i still have the motor and tranny with all the goodys it was like the hood had never been opened, the car was in bodin alberta, kina a waste but the guy wanted to cut the car up to fix another poncho, cant save them all i guess.

It sounds like it had factory air shocks.

Was it a long cylinder shaped compressor mounted on the left inner fender?
