Im having a problem with my steering wheel, I do not remember having such a gap between the wheel and the turn signal housing. The main bolt is tight and the housing is locked on to the main tube but i have a gap between the wheel and housing. any ideas ? Thanks..

Found a picture of it before i started Guess it was allways that bad. Im going to find a Black "U shaped" rubber that i can put on to the housing to close the gap.

Well I'm positive that's not right the way it is even though it was that way before you started. It's been quite awhile since I worked on one but there is room to move in that mast if I remember right. There is no way they sent them from the factory with a gap like that to look into. Just sorry I don't have the solution here for you.
Im going to take it apart again and see if i can get it to move closer to the wheel. but im sort of stumper because the part that the turn signal switch is locked onto the main shaft (see Pic below)and i cannot see any slack to move it . Maybe i can move the whole assembly closer by sliding the main shaft closer to the wheel, I will take more pics later.
thanks for the imput guys..

Tint some light body filler with red like you would with fibreglass and clear the steering wheel. The top coat body filler will sand easier as to not scatch the original plastic.
Boy do i feel like i had a blonde moment !! All i had to do was loosen the "U" clamp that holds the column outer to the under side of the dash, the support is slotted so you can move it forward or back,
looks much better now
