4:11's or 3:55's

Merry Christmas Guys,

Car goes for paint in 5 days, original gold, poly urethane. I need a little more help, I presently have 4:11's in the Strato now in a auburn posi, in my 10 bolt rear, and I have a new set of 3:55's, which everyone I know tells me I should put in, any opinions sure would help? I love the 4:11's they pick the car 4" up at launch?

Thank you confuseconfuseconfuseconfuseconfuseconfuse

4:11 are GREAT     if you don't drive out of town  disbelief I had 3:73's in Ventura and hated them...  69 Bel AIR has 3:73:s and would go 3:55 next time   so

Thanks guys, I will put them in during Christmas and let you know, if interested. Next trip is too the Dyno shop! The guy I got the car from stated to me he had it done in Ottawa and in 2 pulls it showed 474@6100 and 476@6100, after timing adjust.

I ran both 4.11's and 3.55's in the same car. The 4.11's were great around town but it felt like you were driving in second gear when you got up to highway speeds.
I later went with the 4.11's behind an overdrive transmission and that was the best of both worlds.

I went from 3.08 to a 3.73 with a 27" tall tire in my 57 Pontiac,, 327 4 gear !!!

well...did that ever wake it up , but highway cruising is 60 MPH and no more , I'm sure it isn't hurting the engine ,,but it sounds like you need another gear.

IT is a blast around town !!

4:11 IS NO GOOD IF YOU PLAN ON DRIVING ANYWHERE. 3:42 is what I have in the z. Great on the hwy, if you are pushing 500 horses, 3:42 would be a good all around gear.

3.23- 3.73 is a nice saturday night gear, if you,re running a 3spd auto. nice launch, but still driveable, if your down south. here in sudbury, all our hwys are 80kph, so we can get away with the 373.

I'd leave the 4.10s and get a nice set of ET drag radials on there to help hook it up! taller tires too, which will cut the gear down! You won't be dissapointed with the 3.55s either thought i'm sure with that HP.
