This car was sold new at Saskatoon motor products in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It has always been in the city It is a real SS396 360 HP with a four speed munci transmission. I have documention from GM that it is a real Malibu SS with 360HP 396 and munci. The car is rust free. One minor spot, but I mean rust free. You don't need to buy one piece of metal to patch this car. It is factory red interior and exterior. Car is complete but I have removed some chrome and weather stripping to paint the car. If you are interested I can put it back together or leave it to repaint. I have about $2000 worth of new rubber seals, console, etc. This car is one of 499 big block SS cars built by GM in 1966 in Canada. It is not a Super Sport dragged in from the States, it is the real thing. Engine is out of the car completely rebuilt. Car can be seen anytime in heated storage. Phone 1-306-260-8798. Sorry not ready with pics for now.

Sooooooo .... if it has the 396 (350HP or 360HP is a minor quibble), and it is a Chevelle (not a Beaumont), and the hood is the '66 SS396 hood, and the grille emblems etc. are SS396, what is the BFD about it being a Cdn Malibu rather than an 'imported' SS396, eh?

I believe.....and could most definitely be wrong, that the Canadian SS396 cars didn't come with the hood and had "Malibu SS" emblems on the quarter panels rather than "Super Sport" The black car shown as an example may have been embellished with the hood etc. I'm sure someone on this site can chime in to confirm or deny!!!

Lower production and the ability to get Canadian documentation on the car from GM Canada. Different Cowl tags and your right about the badging and the hood. It also confuses US guys and that's fun.
(I wonder where that picture was taken. It would be a nice place for a modern day photo op.)

Hey, no rear rocker chrome on the Canadian car, eh?
My Dad had a 66 Malibu SS 283 glide-it was our family car in the 1970's -it had grooved rocker moldings and the extensions on the lower rear quarters (unlike this dealer brochure) Wayne Zezella is the orig owner of his 66 Malibu SS 327 4-speed which has the grooved rocker moldings and extensions on the lower rear quarter panels
that dealer brochure car appears to wear "malibu" emblems as opposed to "Malibu SS" so this could be a brochure thing

Well, the funny thing is in about 1973 one of my classmates had a 66 Malibu SS 6 banger, 3 speed bolt action that had those pieces on it, I'm sure. In those days though, our little town had 23 Chevelles and Beaumonts (66-67) thanks to a local fanatic who bought wrecks, fixed and sold them. I just assumed those pieces had been added to my buddies car since a lot of these 23 cars had many changes made to them.
I guess the parts book will likely tell the tale...
