Cool. Needs a "little" work but it's a cool car. How did the pcv system work on a 65 L79? Was it like the 66/67 with a pcv valve in the line to the oil fill tube or was it on the back vent like the 275 hp engines?

As I remember there was a hose from the rear of the engine, where the road draft tube used to reside, to the base of the air cleaner. This was to allow filtered fresh air to enter the crankcase. The oil fill tube had a hose running to the left side of the Holley. This hose attached to a brass  "metered orifice" that sucked vapours from the crankcase into the carb as part of the air/fuel mixture. Like a PCV this system drew contaminated air from the crankcase and allowed fresh air to replace it. Only early Holleys used the metered orifice system. All other carbs and later Holleys used a PCV valve, sometimes screwed into the oil fill tube or inline with the hose to the rear where the road draft tube used to be. By 1968 the valve covers had holes to allow the crankcase to breathe so there was no longer a vent hole at the rear of the block

Thanks
Randy

Wow! That is a twin of your car Tim. What HP rating was yours? The only thing is yours is in nice shape. That one looks as ruff as the 65 Cheetah. Don't worry because all this one will need is the trunk, quarters, floor, doors, trunk lid, hood, inner fenders, outer fenders, rad support, dash replacement panel, and a shiny new set of redlines.

9:47am New years day & it says 1 day & a few hrs to go!!! 65 sssd has it right, this car will be a "can of worms" once you get into it!! Those small holes will become "LARGE" ones. Think the only way is a "BODY OFF" & very "DEEP " pockets. but the car is worth doing!!!

I just want the running gear. Does anybody have a complete L-79 for sale? It's a neat car but it's way down in the states. Rare cars don't all turn dollars. A 65 SS L-79 is ruffly 40000.00 all done but it's a more desirable than a car like this. Probably 10000.00 in metal replacement, 7000 to paint, 5000.00 to rebuild the motor, 1000 for the trans, 750 for the rear end, 5000.00 in chrome and bumpers, 1000.00 for the interior, and a set of redlines 800.00. I only assume that the frame is solid but there could be 1500 more and 250 of sand blasting to find out. Where did that get me? About 30500.00 before the purchase price so you really must like this car if you buy it. And don't forget 2000.00 to ship it. I think I just talked myself out my current resto? NAHH! It's only money.

I'm behind TC too. Rarer than a SS but it probably wouldn't pull more money. I want to see yours done Tim, get on that thing! Who has the high bid on that car? Somebody here?
