i was just wondering whats the best way to remove bolts that i cut or broke off when tryng to remove them the area ive gotten the problem with is the body bolts so room is tight any thoughts
can you get a drill into the spots? if so.. try centering a pilot drill into the broken bolt first.. then a larger drill to accomodate an "easy out" (extractor). spray some WD40 or lubricant of some sort on the areas and let them soak for a bit. sometimes heat helps the lube penetrate better (watch for flame throwers)
if you cant drill into the spots.. an alternate, more evasive move may be the key.. hard to say without seeing the areas in question.
hope it helps... and doesnt mean to sound like it's the only way to do it.. it's just whats worked for me in the past.. you may be able to re-drill the size of tap drill and then re-tap the hole too.. again.. only if you have access to drilling
yea...dont hurt yerself! you could heat them up and hopefully grab the other end with grips,you could drill em out and retap or drill a hole in the broken bolt and try a easy out. Best results usually mean heat,wear yer PPE

Most of the "nuts" attached to the body are actually "cage nuts". If you can get at them just grind out the cage part. New cage nuts are available from Spau-Nauer in Kitchener.
HI when working on bolts that have to be heated with a torch spray wiht water in stead of w d 40the water removes the rust particals wd40 holds them in the threads
IF your talking about broken body bount bolts. or spinning ones, only real fix is to cut the floor pan above and repair with a new cage nut. cut only 3 sides , then weld the pan back up after the repair. It will save you time in the long run, trying to drill and easy out the old bolts. beause it's a cage nut, it is not solid and will wiggle around and end up spinning free most likely.
On my convertible, I had 7 bolts spin in the body......no fun...

Come on guys. Ever heard of welding a nut to the broken bolt-I'm talking CLEAN OFF then heat the piss out of it then remove it like any other bolts. Turn up the MIG really high and fill the centre of the nut with weld. There you go-works on Exhaust studs, pretty much anything.

Good tip, will have to remember that one when I borrow my sons welder . I have a few broken bolts to remove.

do it all the time with steel bolts in aluminum, works great . As for cage nuts , I was speaking more to the fact that they spin in the cage, not break....

Exactly the way I do it, by far the best method. When I pull something apart I like to have the torch at the ready to preheat bolts/nuts to prevent breaking in the first place if possible.

I actually prefer stick for this. The flux helps keep the molten metal from filling up the threads, and IMHO you just get more heat shock. Sharpen the tip of the rod to a pencil point and you can get bolts that broke off an inch below the surface without trouble.
