January for most of us means more cold weather. What better time to feature a convertible to help remind us that warmer days will come. Soon those lucky enough to own one will be able to put the top down and soak up the sun's warm rays. One lucky fellow is Dan Boyd. He is the proud owner of this gorgeous 1963 Acadian Beaumont Convertible. It wasn't always this nice. It took a lot of blood, sweat, and tears on Dan's part to bring the Acadian back to better-than-new condition. Here's more on this great car from Dan:
"When i first found this car in 1978 i was looking for a parts car for a 1963 Acadian Beaumont convert that was really rough. I found it advertised in the Buy and Sell for $200 but when i phone the lady said i was number 13 on the list. I asked if i could come and look at it anyway, when i got there it had 4 flat tires and no Battery. She said someone had come 3 weeks before me and did not leave a deposit and she did not know what to do, since it was the same style car as the one i had i told her i would give her $250 and have it out of there that night. I drove home took the tires off mine and brought a battery and made the deal. it was in pretty good shape with minor rust in the rear Quarter and top of fenders. All the chrome was good (did not replace any till this spring). The drivers front wheel bearing was shot (sounded like an airplane on the way home) I traded Electrical work for the first paint job (silver cause every Acadian, and Chevy II i saw was red)
I drove it to work off and on for about 5 years then only in the summer when collectors plates became available.. When i retired i decide to just do some minor repairs so i could drive it again. But when i started to take things off i got carried away and stripped it right down to bare metal My good fiend Bud did all the welding and we took almost till 5 months (starting in Dec 2009) off and on to get it ready to take to a painter.
Then i took it home and spent the next Month wet sanding and polishing new paint (scary !!) then i slowly started to put it back together and turned the motor over almost 1 year from when we started. We used new GM fenders and door skins, Full quarters from Classic Industries. All that is left is to put my new top on and my new carpet back in which i will do when it gets warmer.."
I never had much use for most sixes, but in this car it seems...well... absolutely perfect! I'd be honoured to cruise in this car anytime. She's really sweet.
Congrats, Mark

Happy new year Dan. That's a nice start to the new year having your car for the first month. As I said before you have a great looking car and last time I saw it there was no int and motor. I'll have to drop by an take a look. Or is it all tucked away for the winter. Congrats
Very, very nice car Dan! Just curious, are you left-handed?

When I posted that, I should have explained that I noticed one of the car pictures in the story has the negative reversed. Is that what you were referring to?
