The Tin Man from Vancover Island

Just a reminder for everyone looking for Pontiac or chevy hard to find parts . I have been looking for the chrome package of a 63 Acadian Beaumont Sports deluxe for over 6 months intensively and it seemed I was always runing into a wall . Everyone said that they had not seen those parts for a couple of years and I knew that there was no real count on those cars from GM and at most there was between 100 and 400 made with the SD  package . I was starting to get worried and had almost settled for the no trim or badging look when I ran into another forum of the name Tim Man from Vancover Island . I thought that this guy is sure popular and I bet everyone gets in touch with him for parts and what luck would anybody find anything there because he eventually has to run out of parts because everyone goes to him . I thought I might as well try him. So I emailed him and told him what type of car I had and what Trim and Badging I needed and sent it off figuring I would get the same reply I have always received . To my surprise Dave answered the email with Yes he had some parts but to give him a few days to see how many he has . When he got back to me he said this isn'ta sales pitch but I honestly picked up these parts a couple of weeks ago at a gentlemens place where he was cleaning out his garage of all his spare parts . Dave from the Tinman bought all his parts and brought them home and he had not gone through them yet when I had emailed him so he had not yet known all what he had bought yet .Needless to say he had most of my parts . All I am missing is the two front fender Spears and the Sports Deluxe badging on the trunk hood. Dave is very professional , he sent me pictures and then sent me some of the pieces and if I was not satified with them I was to return them within ten days . Dave wants you to like them or send them back . GREAT CONCEPT !!SOME OF THE PARTS LOOKED BRAND NEW.

This shows that when you think you will never find your parts or your well is always dry when you go to it one day you just might find water or a new batch of parts that just came in.

The funny thing is another guy emailed me because he had seen somewhere that I was looking for these parts and he had happened to be looking for the same parts . I looked on the map to see where he was from and by the look of it he was only the most 40 miles away from Dave the Tinman.

It will not hurt to give Dave a call to see if he has any of your parts that you need .

His phone number is 1-250-743-7321 , He will be more than glad to give you a hand. Tell him Darrell sent you ...

When I was visiting my friend Peter (Old Gold restorations) in New Brunswick, a couple of years ago, they were using a part for a GTO  from a fellow named "The Tin Man" out West..

thanks, daryle.

I remember seeing the Tin Man ads in the Old Auto Trader. He always seemed to have a good selection of parts.

Yes, you were very lucky, I contacted him several years ago for some general Acadian parts, which he had but when I asked about Sport Deluxe parts, he said they had not seen one of those cars for 12-15 years.
I gave up on getting better than I had since I had been told he was the man, if he couldn't help no one could.  Today, the one thing I can say is all the trim on my car is original, not perfect but original.
I guess I should have called back.

Sorry about that, I think I have to call the COMPUTER GUY anyway it was. a pleasure to deal with him. With some of the parts being as rare as some of them are ,he didn't stick it to you with a high price.

My wife purchased my dog dish hub caps from Dave, they were in great shape and reasonably priced considering they are over 40 yrs. old and they don't repop them.

Do his parts go back to 1956?

You never know. That's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. He hasn't found me rocker chrome for 65 Beaumont SD yet but he knows I'm looking. Alot of Daves Acadian parts come from another source.

HI 65SSSD,

IF ANY ONE HAS THE ROCKER CHROME IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DAVE!!

YES HE HAS ACADIAN AND BEAUMONT PARTS, INTERIOR, SHEET METAL, CHROME, EMBLEMS TO THE POINT ITS HARD TO COUNT IT ALL,
HE HAS TONS OF IT.
AND JUST TO KEEP THINGS STRAIGHT, DAVES PARTS ARE JUST THAT  "DAVES PARTS"
THERE IS NO OTHER OUTSIDE SOURCE !!!!!!!!!! no.gif

You really need to keep that to yourself because you have blown things way out of proportion. The truth is: No he doesn't have 65 Beaumont SD rocker chrome, yes he buys parts for his business from guys that are getting out of there trim or complete cars which changes the availablility of parts ( other sources), this why his inventory changes, he has a pile of other Acadian parts and other various Canadian Pontiacs. They are his parts but they don't come out of thin air. The good thing is due to your response Dave has given me a call because he has my number to find out what's up. Rather than YOU, he called like a gentleman to talk to me and like the gentleman we are the issue you caused was rectified. You need to relax. It sounds like Daves parts will be more easily available to the public soon and that's good for the hobby.

hi everyone, please give me a moment of your time to introduce myself and hopefully help clear up a glitch thats been brought to my attention. my name is dave paige and i am the proud founder and owner of 'tin man auto' since 1979. i just became a new member tonight because i have 2 important customers (all are important to me) that have been BOTH mis~understood and i sincerely hope i can rectify this with an explanation. so here goes... i had a nicer elderly gentleman call me yesterday asking if i could help him out with his 'wish list' of parts that he needed for his '65 parisienne, he mentioned that he had seen this 'blip' about me on this site and decided to give me a call. after i got off the phone with him, i checked out cdn poncho and was, of course, very elated to see that we were helping in making a few enthusiest happy. today i received another call from a non member (and this was NOT from member OURWAGON just for clarification) asking me if i had seen the latest on this post, saying 'he' thought it sounded like i was just a middle man and that i bought my parts from "another source" so i went on and read it and, yes, it could be taken that way but after talking with 65sssd his explanation is as follows, my "another source is john q. public. just as it is in any business. take 'canadian tire' as an example, yes they sell product but they don't just pull it out of thin air, they have suppliers (or in this case "another souce") and they are in commerce or in the retail business. just as we are, i buy cars every week, i buy parts every week and in turn we sell parts every day (hence the 'here today gone tomorow but i may have it again the next week) and that is, to quote, and the way i believe 65sssd meant when he said "thats the way the cookie crumbles. OURWAGON is a very good and very important customer of ours and knows that we have alot of product here for all kinds of g.m. cars and was just trying to clear up what not only he, but what others (including myself, quite honestly) simply misunderstood. so you know what guys. its just one little hiccup, we are all a bunch of buds with alot of he same interests and i say, we all get up now..walk to the fridge..pull out a cold one (o.k. 2) and talk cars and have fun. thanks everyone for taking the time, you are all a bunch of good chits, keep up the great site, it really helps everyone out in the end. amen. cheers dave

Nice to see you here Dave. (I had purchased a couple of Beau dog dish caps and '66 reverse lights from you a year or so ago.)
I have a follow up question to your comment "..pull out a cold one (o.k. 2) and talk cars"... Do you yourself have a Cdn Poncho? Any in the past? If the answer is yes, photo's are always a big hit around here!
Again, welcome (from Edmonton)!
