It's a long story, but this fall I was reunited with my old 63 Parisienne 2 dr ht. Unfortunately, when I last had it, it was a complete cancer victim, although sporting mint bumpers and a rust-free front clip. Fast forward 12 years later, found on Kijiji in Edmonton waiting to be crushed by a local recycler, I was able to completely strip anything possibly, and even remotely, usable, including the 283/alum. pg assembly. After the short version of a long story, what am I up against swapping this into my 60 Strato-sedan? It seems to me that both motors use the side mount engine mounts-or are they 6 and V8 specific mounts and frame perches? It currently has the 261/cast pg in it. I know, I can hear it now-why pull the six? The tranny is the deal breaker. The motor has(I'm guessing) 144000 miles-a lot for those engines, and I'm skeptical that it's ever been rebuilt, never mind the trans. I am aware that using the 63 283/pg requires a different driveshaft. I wanna drive to Bonneville with this tanker(from Edmonton, Ab.), not to the grocery store. I tend to ask a lot up front, because I don't have the luxury of any real fab stuff at home, and most of it gets done over a weekend at my auto shop. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Ted, did you take the engine mounts off the 63 frame?? I think all you have to do is re-bolt them in the V8 position!!! Frame is drilled out for them. Everything else is a 'drop" in!! The more you got from the 63 will help e.g. rad fan shroud. D/shaft, etc. You may only have to change the front "yoke" on D/shaft & of course you'll need an exhaust system with a set of "Cherry Bomb" turbo's [the oval ones] they have a great sound, not too loud, they are not expensive [around $45 ea] CTC "crappy Tire, Cambodian Tire call it what you like!!!!

Thanks Pete-unfortunately, I didn't know I'd be buying a '60 3 months later. I currently possess neither the driveshft or the mounts off the '63. Although I did think about it at the time...
Ted I just did a swap in my 61 pontiac, from a 261 to a small block, if u have any qustions just pm me and I can probably help u out, good luck--------it was quite an education when I did mine. Brent
It seems I've now got a pretty good running 261 in this car. I'm thinking about keeping it in there now. Anybody know of a reasonably priced trans adapter to go from the cast 'glide to a modern trans? A used one maybe? Along shot, I'm sure. I know they're available, but dang, they're pricey.
